- EnglishAl-Azhar is an independent Islamic scientific institution, with exclusive competence over its own affairs. It is the main reference for religious sciences and Islamic affairs. It is responsible for calling to Islam, as well as, disseminating religious sciences and the Arabic language in Egypt and all over the world.
The State shall provide sufficient financial allocations thereto so that it can achieve its purposes.
Al-Azhar’s Grand Sheikh is independent and may not be dismissed. The Law shall regulate the method of appointing the Grand Sheikh from amongst the members of Council of Senior Scholars. (Art. 7) - Arabicالأزهر الشريف هيئة إسلامية علمية مستقلة، يختص دون غيره بالقيام على كافة شؤونه، وهو المرجع الأساسي فى العلوم الدينية والشؤون الإسلامية، ويتولى مسئولية الدعوة ونشر علوم الدين واللغة العربية فى مصر والعالم .
وتلتزم الدولة بتوفير الاعتمادات المالية الكافية لتحقيق أغراضه.

- EnglishFirst: Islam is the official religion of the State and is a foundation source of legislation:
A. No law may be enacted that contradicts the established provisions of Islam.
B. No law may be enacted that contradicts the principles of democracy.
C. No law may be enacted that contradicts the rights and basic freedoms stipulated in this Constitution.
Second: This Constitution guarantees the Islamic identity of the majority of the Iraqi people and guarantees the full religious rights to freedom of religious belief and practice of all individuals such as Christians, Yazidis, and Mandean Sabeans. (Art. 2) - Arabicاولاً :ـ الاسلام دين الدولة الرسمي، وهو مصدرٌ اساس للتشريع:
أ ـ لا يجوز سن قانونٍ يتعارض مع ثوابت احكام الاسلام.
ب ـ لا يجوز سن قانونٍ يتعارض مع مبادئ الديمقراطية.
ج ـ لا يجوز سن قانونٍ يتعارض مع الحقوق والحريات الاساسية الواردة في هذا الدستور.
ثانياً :ـ يضمن هذا الدستور الحفاظ على الهوية الاسلامية لغالبية الشعب العراقي، كما ويضمن كامل الحقوق الدينية لجميع الافراد في حرية العقيدة والممارسة الدينية، كالمسيحيين، والايزديين، والصابئة المندائيين. (المادة 2)
