(1) Judges, in the performance of their function, shall be independent and, in decision making shall be bound by the Constitution, by constitutional law, by international treaty pursuant to Art. 7, paras. 2 and 5, and by law.
(2) If a Court assumes that other generally binding legal regulation, its part, or its individual provisions which concern a pending matter contradicts the Constitution, constitutional law, international treaty pursuant to Art. 7, para. 5 or law, it shall suspend the proceedings and shall submit a proposal for the commence of proceedings according to Art. 125, para. 1. Legal opinion of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic contained in the decision shall be binding for the Court. (Art. 144) - Slovak
(1) Sudcovia sú pri výkone svojej funkcie nezávislí a pri rozhodovaní sú viazaní ústavou, ústavným zákonom, medzinárodnou zmluvou podľa čl. 7 ods. 2 a 5 a zákonom.

There shall be no appeal against a decision of the Constitutional Court; this however does not apply if due to a decision by a body of an international organization set up to ensure the observance of international agreements binding for the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Republic has the obligation in proceedings before the Constitutional Court to reopen a final decision of the Constitutional Court. (3) If the Constitutional Court holds by its decision that there is inconformity between legal regulations stated in paragraph 1, the respective regulations, their parts or some of their provisions shall lose effect. The bodies that issued these legal regulations shall be obliged to harmonize them with the Constitution, with constitutional laws and with international treaties promulgated in the manner laid down by a law, and if it regards regulations stated in paragraph 1 letters b) and c) also with other laws, if it regards regulations stated in paragraph 1 letter d) also with government regulations and with generally binding legal regulations of Ministries and other central state administration bodies within six month from the promulgation of the decision of the Constitutional Court. If they fail to do so, these regulations, their parts or their provisions shall lose effect after six months from the promulgation of the decision.

(1) The Constitutional Court decides on the compatibility of
a) laws with the Constitution, constitutional laws and international treaties to which a consent was given by the National Council of the Slovak Republic and which were ratified and promulgated in a manner laid down by law,
b) Government ordinances, generally binding legal regulations issued by ministries and other central bodies of the state administration with the Constitution, constitutional laws, international treaties to which a consent was given by the National Council of the Slovak Republic and which were ratified and promulgated in a manner laid down by law; and with laws,
c) generally binding ordinances pursuant to Article 68 with the Constitution, constitutional laws and international treaties to which a consent was given by the National Council of the Slovak Republic and which were ratified and promulgated as required by law, unless other court is making decision on them,
d) generally binding legal regulations issued by local state administration bodies and generally binding ordinances issued by local self administration bodies issued pursuant to Article 71, paragraph 2 with the Constitution,
constitutional laws and international treaties to which a consent was given by the National Council of the Slovak Republic and which were ratified and promulgated in a manner laid down by law, unless other court is making decision on them,

(3) If the Constitutional Court states by its decision that there is inconsistency between the legal regulations referred to in paragraph 1, the effect of the respective regulations, their parts or their provisions shall terminate. The bodies that issued these legal regulations are obliged to ensure within six months from promulgation of the decision of the Constitutional Court their compliance with the Constitution, constitutional laws and international treaties promulgated in a manner laid down by law and with respect to the regulations referred to in paragraph 1, letters b) and c) also with other laws, with respect to the regulations referred to in paragraph 1, letter d) with Government ordinances and with generally binding legal regulations issued by ministries and other central bodies of the state administration. If they fail to do so, the validity of such regulations, their parts or provisions shall terminate six months from promulgation of the decision.
(4) The Constitutional Court shall not decide on conformity of a draft law or a proposal of other generally binding legal regulation with the Constitution, with an international treaty that was promulgated in the manner laid down by a law or with the constitutional law. The Constitutional Court shall not decide on the conformity of constitutional laws with the Constitution.

(1) Ústavný súd rozhoduje o súlade
a) zákonov s ústavou, s ústavnými zákonmi a s medzinárodnými zmluvami, s ktorými vyslovila súhlas Národná rada Slovenskej republiky a ktoré boli ratifikované a vyhlásené spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom,
b) nariadení vlády, všeobecne záväzných právnych predpisov ministerstiev a ostatných ústredných orgánov štátnej správy s ústavou, s ústavnými zákonmi, s medzinárodnými zmluvami, s ktorými vyslovila súhlas Národná rada Slovenskej republiky a ktoré boli ratifikované a vyhlásené spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom, a so zákonmi,
c) všeobecne záväzných nariadení podľa čl. 68 s ústavou, s ústavnými zákonmi, s medzinárodnými zmluvami, s ktorými vyslovila súhlas Národná rada Slovenskej republiky a ktoré boli ratifikované a vyhlásené spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom, a so zákonmi, ak o nich nerozhoduje iný súd,
d) všeobecne záväzných právnych predpisov miestnych orgánov štátnej správy a všeobecne záväzných nariadení orgánov územnej samosprávy podľa čl. 71 ods. 2 s ústavou, s ústavnými zákonmi, s medzinárodnými zmluvami vyhlásenými spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom, so zákonmi, s nariadeniami vlády a so všeobecne záväznými právnymi predpismi ministerstiev a ostatných ústredných orgánov štátnej správy, ak o nich nerozhoduje iný súd.

(4) Ústavný súd nerozhoduje o súlade návrhu zákona alebo návrhu iného všeobecne záväzného právneho predpisu s ústavou, s medzinárodnou zmluvou, ktorá bola vyhlásená spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom, alebo s ústavným zákonom. Ústavný súd nerozhoduje ani o súlade ústavného zákona s ústavou.
