Head of State
- EnglishThe Principality is a constitutional, hereditary monarchy on a democratic and parliamentary basis (articles 79 and 80); the power of the State is embodied in the Reigning Prince and the People and shall be exercised by both under the conditions set forth in the provisions of this Constitution. Vice-President
- English1 The President of the Confederation chairs the Federal Council.
2 The President and the Vice-President of the Federal Council are elected by the Federal Assembly from the members of the Federal Council for a term of office of one year.

- English1) The collegial Government shall consist of the Prime Minister and four other Ministers.
2) The Prime Minister and the other Ministers shall be appointed by the Reigning Prince with the agreement of Parliament and on its proposal.
3) On the proposal of Parliament, one of the Ministers shall be appointed by the Reigning Prince as the Deputy Prime Minister.
4) The Ministers must be citizens of Liechtenstein and eligible for election to Parliament.
5) When the collegial Government is appointed, care shall be taken that at least two Ministers are from each of the two regions. Their alternates shall be chosen from the same region.

(1) The Federal Chancellor and, on his recommendation, the other members of the Federal Government are appointed by the Federal President. No recommendation is requisite to the dismissal of the Federal Chancellor or the whole Federal Government; the dismissal of individual members of the Federal Government ensues on the proposal of the Federal Chancellor. The appointment of the Federal Chancellor or the whole Federal Government is countersigned by the newly appointed Federal Chancellor; dismissal requires no countersignature.
(2) The members of the Federal Government need not belong to the National Council but must be eligible for election to the National Council.

(1) Der Bundeskanzler und auf seinen Vorschlag die übrigen Mitglieder der Bundesregierung werden vom Bundespräsidenten ernannt. Zur Entlassung des Bundeskanzlers oder der gesamten Bundesregierung ist ein Vorschlag nicht erforderlich; die Entlassung einzelner Mitglieder der Bundesregierung erfolgt auf Vorschlag des Bundeskanzlers.
