- EnglishThe authorities of the state shall create conditions under which every person capable of work is able to earn a living through their work or enterprise. Those who cannot themselves provide for their own subsistence have the right to support from the state.
Specific provisions concerning the right of employees to co-determination at their work place shall be laid down by law. Workers have the right to rest. For wage earners, this right is ensured by the establishment of a working week not exceeding 40 hours, reduced night work, paid annual leave and weekly rest days. (Art. 43)

The maximum daily working hours shall be established by law.
Workers shall have the right to a weekly rest day and paid yearly holidays. They may not waive this right. (Art. 36) - Italian
Il lavoratore ha diritto ad una retribuzione proporzionata alla quantità e qualità del suo lavoro e in ogni caso sufficiente ad assicurare a sé e alla famiglia un’esistenza libera e dignitosa.
La durata massima della giornata lavorativa è stabilita dalla legge.
