Head of State
- EnglishA presidential candidate must be an Egyptian born to Egyptian parents, and neither he or his parents or his spouse may have held any other nationality. He must enjoy civil and political rights, must have performed the military service or have been exempted therefrom by law, and shall not be less than forty calendar years of age on the day of commencing candidacy registration. Other requirements for candidacy shall be set out by Law. (Art. 141)

- EnglishThe government is the supreme executive and administrative body of the State, and consists of the Prime Minister, his/her deputies, the Ministers, and their deputies.
The Prime Minister shall head the government, oversee its work, and direct the performance of its functions. (Art. 163) - Arabicالحكومة هى الهيئة التّنفيذية والإدارية العليا للدولة، وتتكون من رئيس مجلس الوزراء، ونوابه، والوزراء، ونوابهم.
ويتولى رئيس مجلس الوزراء رئاسة الحكومة، ويشرف على أعمالها، ويوجهها فى أداء اختصاصاتها. (المادّة 163)

A candidate for membership in the Senate or the person who appoints him must be an Egyptian with civil and political rights. He must have at least a university degree or equivalent, and his age must be less than thirty-five years. The law specifies the conditions of candidacy, electoral system and the division of constituencies to take into account the equitable representation of the population and the governorates. Nomination can take place through singlemember election or multi-member election, or both together. (Art. 251)

يشترط فيمن يترشح لعضوية مجلس الشيوخ أو من يعين فيه أن يكون مصرياً، متمتعاً بحقوقه المدنية والسياسية، حاصلاً على مؤهل جامعي أو ما يعادله على الأقل، وألا يقل سنه يوم فتح باب الترشح عن خمس وثلاثين سنة ميلادية. ويبين القانون شروط الترشح الأخرى، ونظام الإنتخاب، وتقسيم الدوائر الانتخابية بما يُراعى التمثيل العادل للسكان والمحافظات، ويجوز الأخذ بالنظام الإنتخابي الفردي أو المنعدد الأعضاء أو الجمع بينهما. The Senate shall consist of a number of members determined by law, not less than 180 members. Two-thirds of the members of the Council shall be elected by direct secret universal suffrage. The President of the Republic shall appoint the remaining third and the elections shall be held in accordance with the law. (Art. 250)

يُشكل مجلس الشيوخ من عدد من الأعضاء يُحدده القانون على ألا يقل عن (180) عضواً. وينتخب ثلثا أعضائه بالإقتراع العام السري المباشر، ويعين رئيس الجمهورية الثلث الباقي. ويجرى انتخاب وتعيين أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ على النحو الذي ينظمه القانون. (المادّة 250)
