- EnglishThe National Elections Commission is an independent authority and shall be solely competent to administer referenda and elections of the president, the parliament and the local councils. Such administration shall include the development and updating of a database for voters, proposing the division of constituencies, determination of controls for promotion and funding of electoral campaigns, as well as electoral expenditure, the disclosure of such expenditure, the supervision of such controls, the facilitation of the procedures for out-of-country voting by expatriate Egyptians, and other procedures till the announcements of the results.
The foregoing shall be regulated by law. - EnglishThe Elections Commission’s responsibilities and powers include the following:
(a) to conduct, manage, supervise, and facilitate all elections and public referendums, to ensure the proper exercise of the right to vote, and to ensure that all elections and public referendums are conducted freely and fairly, without intimidation, aggression, undue influence or corruption;
(b) to prepare, maintain, and update electoral rolls, and to make all arrangements for holding elections and public referendums;
(c) to hold and declare the results of those elections and public referendums within periods prescribed by law;
(d)to compile the register of voters in each constituency, to revise it at such periods as shall be determined by law and to provide for publication of the register in the Government Gazette;
(e) to fix, vary, demarcate and continuously review the boundaries and names of constituencies or voting units in all elections in accordance with principles specified by law and to provide for publication of any amendments in the Government Gazette;
(f) to register political parties, and to perform those actions relating to political parties as specified by law;
(g) to educate and create awareness among the general public on the electoral process and its purpose;

(ށ) އިންތިހާންތަކާއި، ރައްޔިތުންގެ ހިޔާލު ހޯދުމުގެ ޢާންމު ވޯޓުތަކުގައި، ވޯޓުދިނުމުގެ ޙައްޤު ލިބިފައިވާ މީހުންގެ ރަޖިސްޓްރީ ތައްޔާރުކުރުމާއި، އެ ރަޖިސްޓްރީއަށް ގެންނާންޖެހޭ އުނިއިތުރު ގެނައުމާއި، ބެލެހެއްޓުމާއި، އިންތިހާބްތަކާއި ރައްޔިތުންގެ ހިޔާލުހޯދުމުގެ ޢާންމު ވޯޓު ނެގުމާ ބެހޭގޮތުން ހަމަޖައްސާންޖެހޭ އެނެމެހައި އިންތިޒާމްތައް ހަމަޖެއްސުން.
(ނ) ޤާނޫނުގައި ބަޔާންކޮށްފައިވާ މުއްދަތުގެ ތެރޭގައި އިންތިހާބްތަކާއި ރައްޔިތުންގެ ހިޔާލު ހޯދުމުގެ އާންމު ވޯޓުތައް ނެގުމާއި އެ ވޯޓުތަކުގެ ނަތިޖާ އިއުލާންކުރުން.
(ރ) އިންތިހާބީ ދާއިރާތަކުގައި ތިބި ވޯޓު ދިނުމުގެ ޙައްޤު ލިބިފައިވާ މީހުންގެ ރަޖިސްޓްރީތައް އެކުލަވައިލައި، ޤާނޫނުގައި ކަނޑައަޅައިފައިވާ މުއްދަތަށް އެ ރަޖިސްޓްރީތަކަށް ގެންނާންޖެހޭ އުނިއިތުރުގެނެސް ޤާނޫނުގައިވާ ގޮތުގެމަތީން ސަރުކާރުގެ ގެޒެޓްގައި ޝާއިރުކުރަމުން ގެންދިއުން.
(ބ) ޤާނޫނުގައި ކަނޑައަޅާ އުސޫލުތަކެއްގެ މތީން ކޮންމެ ޢިންތިހާބެއްގެ ކުރީން އިންތިހާބީ ދާއިރާތަކުގެ ނަންތަކާއި، އިންތައް ކަނޑައަޅައި، ވަކިކޮށް، އެ ކަންކަމަށް ބަދަލުގެނެސް މުރާޖާކުރަމުން ގެންދިއުން. އަދި މިކަންކަމަށް ގެނެވޭ ބަދަލުތައް ގެޒެޓުގައި ޝާއިރުކުރަމުން ގެންދިއުން.
