Vice-President
- English1. To be eligible for appointment as President or Vice-President a candidate must:
- possess the Suriname nationality;
- have reached the age of thirty;
- not be excluded from the right of active and passive suffrage;
- not have acted in violation of the Constitution.

Vice-President

Vice-President

The Vice President of the Republic fulfills the functions that this Political Constitution specifies, and those that the President of the Republic delegates to him[,] directly or by the law.
Similarly he will substitute for the President, in cases of temporary or definitive inability [falta]. (Art. 145) - Spanish
El Vicepresidente de la República desempeña las funciones que le señale la presente Constitución Política, y las que le delegue el Presidente de la República directamente o a través de la ley.
Asimismo sustituirá en el cargo al Presidente, en casos de falta temporal o definitiva. (Art. 145)

The Vice-President shall replace the President in the event of impediment and shall succeed him in the event of vacancy.
Sole paragraph. In addition to other duties attributed to him by a supplementary law, the Vice-President shall assist the President whenever summoned by him for special missions. (Art. 79) - Portuguese
