Head of State

    The President of the Republic and the Members of the National Assembly shall be elected by universal, direct, secret and periodic suffrage, under the terms of the Constitution and the law. (Art. 106)

    O Presidente da República e os Deputados à Assembleia Nacional são eleitos por sufrágio universal, directo, secreto e periódico, nos termos da Constituição e da lei. (Art. 106)
Head of State

    1. The President of the Republic shall be the Head of State, the Executive Power and the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces.
    2. The President of the Republic shall exercise executive power, assisted by a Vice-President, Ministers of State and Ministers.

    5. The President of the Republic shall respect and defend the Constitution, ensure compliance with laws, agreements and international treaties and promote and guarantee the regular functioning of organs of the state. (Art. 108)

    1. O Presidente da República é o Chefe de Estado, o titular do Poder Executivo e o Comandante-em-Chefe das Forças Armadas Angolanas.
    2. O Presidente da República exerce o poder executivo, auxiliado por um Vice-Presidente, Ministros de Estado e Ministros.

    5. O Presidente da República respeita e defende a Constituição, assegura o cumprimento das leis e dos acordos e tratados internacionais, promove e garante o regular funcionamento dos órgãos do Estado. (Art. 108)

    1. Citizens of Angolan origin aged at least thirty-five who have habitually resided in the country for at least ten years and are in full possession of their civil and political rights and physical and mental capacities shall be eligible for election as President of the Republic.

    1. Nominations for President of the Republic shall be proposed by the political parties or coalitions of political parties.
    2. The nominations referred to in the previous point may include citizens who are not affiliated to a competing political party or coalition of political parties. (Art. 111)

    1. As candidaturas para Presidente da República são propostas pelos partidos políticos ou coligações de partidos políticos.
