- EnglishThe candidate for the functions of President of the Republic must:
1. Have the quality of elector within the conditions specified by the electoral law;
2. Solely enjoy the Burundian nationality of origin [d’origine];
3. Be already [révolus] forty years old at the moment of the election;
4. Reside on the territory of Burundi at the moment of the presentation of their candidature;
5. Enjoy all their civil and political rights;
6. Subscribe to the Constitution and to the Charter of National Unity.

- EnglishEvery candidacy to the presidential elections must be supported [parrainée] by a group of two hundred persons formed taking into account the ethnic and gender components.
The members of the supporting group [groupe de parrainage] must themselves meet the fundamental conditions [conditions de fond] required for eligibility in the general elections. (Art. 100) - KirundiUwitoza mw’ibanga ry’Umukuru w’igihugu ategerezwa guhagarikirwa n’umurwi w’abantu amajana abiri atoye bava mu moko yose n’ibitsina vyose.
Abo bantu bamuhagarikira bategerezwa kuba bakwije ibisabwa abashaka kwitoza mw’ibanga ry’abashingamateka. (Ingingo ya 100) - FrenchChaque candidature aux élections présidentielles doit être parrainée par un groupe de deux cents personnes formé en tenant compte des composantes ethniques et du genre.
Les membres du groupe de parrainage doivent eux-mêmes réunir les conditions de fond requises pour l’éligibilité aux élections législatives. (Art. 100)
