    The international treaties ratified by Ecuador shall be subject to the provisions set forth in the Constitution. In the case of treaties and other international instruments for human rights, principles for the benefit of the human being, the non-restriction of rights, direct applicability, and the open clause as set forth in the Constitution shall be applied. (Art. 417)

    Los tratados internacionales ratificados por el Ecuador se sujetarán a lo establecido en la Constitución. En el caso de los tratados y otros instrumentos internacionales de derechos humanos se aplicarán los principios pro ser humano, de no restricción de derechos, de aplicabilidad directa y de cláusula abierta establecidos en la Constitución.     The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and prevails over any other legal regulatory framework. The standards and acts of public power must be upheld in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution; otherwise, they shall not be legally binding.
    The Constitution and international human rights treaties ratified by the State that recognize rights that are more favorable than those enshrined in the Constitution shall prevail over any other legal regulatory system or action by public power. (Art. 424)

    La Constitución es la norma suprema y prevalece sobre cualquier otra del ordenamiento jurídico. Las normas y los actos del poder público deberán mantener conformidad con las disposiciones constitucionales; en caso contrario carecerán de eficacia jurídica.
    La Constitución y los tratados internacionales de derechos humanos ratificados por el Estado que reconozcan derechos más favorables a los contenidos en la Constitución, prevalecerán sobre cualquier otra norma jurídica o acto del poder público. (Art. 424)

    The order of precedence for the application of the regulations shall be as follows: the Constitution; international treaties and conventions; organic laws; regular laws; regional regulations and district ordinances; decrees and regulations; ordinances; agreements and resolutions; and the other actions and decisions taken by public authorities.
    In the event of any conflict between regulations from different hierarchical levels, the Constitutional Court, judges, administrative authorities and public servants, it shall be settled by the application of the standard of higher order of precedence.

    En caso de conflicto entre normas de distinta jerarquía, la Corte Constitucional, las juezas y jueces, autoridades administrativas y servidoras y servidores públicos, lo resolverán mediante la aplicación de la norma jerárquica superior.

    All persons, authorities and institutions are subject to the Constitution.
    The judges, administrative authorities, and public servants shall directly apply constitutional standards and those provided for in international human rights instruments, as long as the latter are more favorable than those set forth in the Constitution, although the parties do not invoke them expressly.
    The rights enshrined in the Constitution and international human rights instruments shall be for immediate observance and enforcement. The absence of a law or lack of knowledge about the norms cannot be alleged to justify the violation of rights and guarantees enshrined in the Constitution, to dismiss proceedings for their defense, or to refuse recognition of these rights. (Art. 426)

    Todas las personas, autoridades e instituciones están sujetas a la Constitución.
    Las juezas y jueces, autoridades administrativas y servidoras y servidores públicos, aplicarán directamente las normas constitucionales y las previstas en los instrumentos internacionales de derechos humanos siempre que sean más favorables a las establecidas en la Constitución, aunque las partes no las invoquen expresamente.
    Los derechos consagrados en la Constitución y los instrumentos internacionales de derechos humanos serán de inmediato cumplimiento y aplicación. No podrá alegarse falta de ley o desconocimiento de las normas para justificar la vulneración de los derechos y garantías establecidos en la Constitución, para desechar la acción interpuesta en su defensa, ni para negar el reconocimiento de tales derechos. (Art. 426)

    Constitutional provisions shall be interpreted by the literal meaning of its wording that is mostly closely in line with the Constitution as a whole. In the event of any doubt, it is the most favorable interpretation of the full and effective force of rights and that best respects the will of the constituent, in accordance with the general principles of constitutional interpretation that shall prevail. (Art. 427)

    Las normas constitucionales se interpretarán por el tenor literal que más se ajuste a la Constitución en su integralidad. En caso de duda, se interpretarán en el sentido que más favorezca a la plena vigencia de los derechos y que mejor respete la voluntad del constituyente, y de acuerdo con los principios generales de la interpretación constitucional. (Art. 427)
