Status of the Constitution

No office [cargo] concedes to whoever exercises it, greater functions than those that the Constitution and the laws confer on it. Any public functionary will act in strict respect for the principles of constitutionality and legality.

Ningún cargo concede a quien lo ejerce más funciones que aquéllas atribuidas por la Constitución y las leyes. Todo funcionario público actuará en estricto respeto a los principios de constitucionalidad y legalidad.

Status of the Constitution

The Political Constitution is the fundamental charter of the Republic; the other laws are subordinate to it. Any laws, treaties, decrees, orders or provisions that oppose it or alter its provisions[,] have no validity [valor]. (Art. 182)

La Constitución Política es la carta fundamental de la República; las demás leyes están subordinadas a ella.
No tendrán valor alguno las leyes, tratados, decretos, reglamentos, órdenes o disposiciones que se le opongan o alteren sus disposiciones. (Art. 182)
Status of the Constitution

This Constitution will govern from its publication in La Gaceta, the Official Gazette, and abrogates [deroga] any other legal provision that opposes it.
The current juridical order will still be in force in all that which does not oppose this Constitution. (Art. 196) - Spanish
La presente Constitución regirá desde su publicación en La Gaceta, Diario Oficial y deroga cualquier otra disposición legal que se le oponga.
El ordenamiento jurídico existente seguirá en vigencia en todo aquello que no se oponga a la presente Constitución. (Art. 196)
