    The community and the State especially protect the child, the adolescent, the mother and the older person in [a] situation of abandonment. They also protect the family and promote matrimony. These latter are recognized as natural and fundamental institutions of society.
    The form of matrimony and the causes of separation and of dissolution are regulated by the law. (Art. 4)

    La comunidad y el Estado protegen especialmente al niño, al adolescente, a la madre y al anciano en situación de abandono. También protegen a la familia y promueven el matrimonio. Reconocen a estos últimos como institutos naturales y fundamentales de la sociedad.

    The national policy on population has as its objective to disseminate and to promote responsible paternity and maternity. It recognizes the right of families and of persons to decide. In this spirit, the State assures adequate programs of education and information and access to such means, that do not affect life or health.
    It is the duty and right of parents to feed, to educate and to give security to their children. Children have the duty to respect and to assist their parents.
    All children have equal rights and duties. Any mention concerning the civil estate of the parents and concerning the nature of filiation in the civil registers or in any other documents of identity[,] is prohibited. (Art. 6)

    La política nacional de población tiene como objetivo difundir y promover la paternidad y maternidad responsables. Reconoce el derecho de las familias y de las personas a decidir. En tal sentido, el Estado asegura los programas de educación y la información adecuados y el acceso a los medios, que no afecten la vida o la salud.
    Es deber y derecho de los padres alimentar, educar y dar seguridad a sus hijos. Los hijos tienen el deber de respetar y asistir a sus padres.
    Todos los hijos tienen iguales derechos y deberes. Está prohibida toda mención sobre el estado civil de los padres y sobre la naturaleza de la filiación en los registros civiles y en cualquier otro documento de identidad. (Art. 6)
