Electoral Bodies
- English(1) The superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of the electoral rolls for, and the conduct of, all elections to Parliament and to the Legislature of every State and of elections to the offices of President and Vice-President held under this Constitution shall be vested in the Election Commission.
(2) The Election Commission shall consist of the Chief Election Commissioner and such number of other Election Commissioners, if any, as the President may from time to time fix and the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners shall, subject to the provisions of any law made in that behalf by Parliament, be made by the President.
… (Art. 324) - Hindi(1) इस संविधान के अधीन संसद और प्रत्येक राज्य के विधान-मंडल के लिए कराए जाने वाले सभी निर्वाचनों के लिए तथा राष्ट्रपति और उपराष्ट्रपति के पदों के लिए निर्वाचनों के लिए निर्वाचक-नामावली तैयार कराने का और उन सभी निर्वाचनों के संचालन का अधीक्षण, निदेशन और नियंत्रण निर्वाचन आयोग में निहित होगा।
(2) निर्वाचन आयोग मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त और उतने अन्य निर्वाचन आयुक्तों से, यदि कोई हों, जितने राष्ट्रपति समय-समय पर नियत करे, मिलकर बनेगा तथा मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त और अन्य निर्वाचन आयुक्तों की नियुक्ति, संसद द्वारा इस निमित्त बनाई गई विधि के उपबंधों के अधीन रहते हुए, राष्ट्रपति द्वारा की जाएगी।

According to Art. 343: "(1) The official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. … (2) Notwithstanding anything in clause (1), for a period of fifteen years from the commencement of this Constitution, the English language shall continue to be used for all the official purposes of the Union for which it was being used immediately before such commencement …"
