    The powers of the State shall be exercised in accordance with this Constitution. (Art. 8)

    It is the duty of the State to follow the provisions of this Constitution, and to protect and promote the rights and freedoms provided in this Chapter.6 (Art. 18)

    All existing statutes, regulations, decrees and notices inconsistent with the fundamental rights and freedoms provisions in this Chapter shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, become void on the commencement of this Constitution. (Art. 66)

    މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީއަށް ޢަމަލުކުރާން ފަށާއިރު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ހިނގަމުންއަންނަ އެންމެހައި ޤާނޫނުތަކާއި ޤާވާއިދުތަކާއި ޤަރާރުތަކާއި އިއުލާންތަކުގައި ބަޔާންވެފައިވާ ކަންތައްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން، މި ބާބުގައި ބަޔާންކޮށްފައިވާ ހައްޤުތަކާއި މިނިވަންކަމާ ތަޢާރުސްވާ އެންމެހައި ކަންތައްތައް، މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީ އަށް އަމަލުކުރާން ފެށުމާއެކު ބާތިލްވީއެވެ.     The exercise and enjoyment of fundamental rights and freedoms is inseparable from the performance of responsibilities and duties, and it is the responsibility of every citizen:

    ކޮންމެ މީހަކަށްމެ ލިބޭ ޙައްޤުތަކާއި މިނިވަންކަމާއި، އެ މީހަކު އަދާކުރަންޖެހޭ މަސްއޫލިއްޔަތުތަކާއި ވާޖިބުތަކަކީ ވަކިނުކުރެވޭނޭ ދެ އަސާސްކަމުގައިވީ ހިނދު، އަންނަނިވި ކަންތައްތައް ކުރުމަކީ ކޮންމެ ރައްޔިތެއްގެ މަސްއޫލިއްޔަތެކެވެ. އަދި އެ ވަގުތަކު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި އުޅޭ ކޮންމެ މީހަކުމެ އެ ކަންތައްތަކަށް އިހްތިރާމްކުރާންވާނެއެވެ.

    No provision of the Constitution shall be interpreted or translated in a manner that would grant to the State or any group or person the right to engage in any activity or perform any act aimed at the destruction of the rights and freedoms set out in this Constitution. (Art. 69)

    މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީގައި ބަޔާންކޮށްފައިވާ އެއްވެސް ޙައްޤަކަށް ނުވަތަ މިނިވަންކަމަކަށް އުނިކަމެއް ލިބޭނޭފަދަ ޢަމަލެއް ކުރުމުގެ، ނުވަތަ އެފަދަ ޢަމަލެއްގައި ބައިވެރިވުމުގެ ޙައްޤު އެއްވެސް މީހަކަށް ނުވަތަ ޖަމާއަތަކަށް ނުވަތަ ދައުލަތަށް ލިބޭނޭފަދަ ގޮތަކަށް މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީގައި ހިމެނޭ އެއްވެސް މާއްދާއެއް މާނަކޮށް ނުވަތަ ތަރުޖަމާކޮށްގެނެއް ނުވާނެއެވެ. Status of the Constitution

    All laws of the Maldives must be enacted in accordance with this Constitution. Any law or part of any law inconsistent with this Constitution is, to the extent of its inconsistency, void and of no force and effect. The obligations imposed by this Constitution must be fulfilled. Any conduct contrary to this Constitution shall be invalid. (Art. 268)

    ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ހަދާ އެންމެހައި ޤާނޫނުތައް ހަދާންވާނީ މިޤާނޫނުއަސާސީގައި ބަޔާންވެގެންވާ ގޮތުގެ މަތީންނެވެ. މިޤާނޫނުއަސާސީން ލާޒިމުކުރާ އެންމެހައި ކަންކަން ފުރިހަމަކުރާންވާނެއެވެ. މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީއާ ހިލާފުވާ ގޮތައް ހަދާ ކޮންމެ ޤާނޫނެއް، ނުވަތަ ޤާނޫނެއްގެ ބައެއްގެ ބާރެއް ނުހިނގާނެއެވެ. މި ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީއާ ހިލާފަށް ކުރާ ކޮންމެ ކަމަކީ ބާތިލް ކަމެކެވެ.
