The enumeration of the rights established in this Chapter3 does not exclude others that the Constitution guarantees, nor others of analogous nature or that are based on the dignity of man, or on the principles of sovereignty of the people, of the democratic State of law and the republican form of government. - English(1) The fundamental human rights and freedoms enshrined in this Chapter3 shall be respected and upheld by the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary and all other organs of government and its agencies and, where applicable to them, by all natural and legal persons in Ghana, and shall be enforceable by the Courts as provided for in this Constitution.
(2) Every person in Ghana, whatever his race, place of origin, political opinion, colour, religion, creed or gender shall be entitled to the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the individual contained in this Chapter but subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest. - EnglishThe object of this Constitution is to facilitate the building of the United Republic as a nation of equal and free individuals enjoying freedom, justice, fraternity and concord, through the pursuit of the policy of Socialism and Self Reliance which emphasizes the application of socialist principles while taking into account the conditions prevailing in the United Republic. Therefore, the state authority and all its agencies are obliged to direct their policies and programmes towards ensuring -
(a) that human dignity and other human rights are respected and cherished;
