2. Any act that violates the human rights of women or limits or otherwise thwarts their role and participation is prohibited.

- EnglishThis Constitution guarantees the full exercise of political rights, in accordance with the principle of popular sovereignty and with the laws derived therefrom. Suffrage shall be universal, equal, secret and compulsory.
Actual equality of opportunities for men and women to elective and political party positions shall be guaranteed by means of positive actions in the regulation of political parties and in the electoral system. - EnglishSubject to such disqualifications as Parliament may prescribe, a person shall be qualified to vote at an election of members to serve in the House of Representatives if, and shall not be qualified to vote at such an election unless, he—
(a) is a Commonwealth citizen (within the meaning of section 18) of the age of eighteen years or upwards; and
(b) has such other qualifications regarding residence or registration as may be prescribed. (Sec. 51)
