- English1 Seanad Éireann shall be composed of sixty members, of whom eleven shall be nominated members and forty-nine shall be elected members.
2 A person to be eligible for membership of Seanad Éireann must be eligible to become a member of Dáil Éireann.
3 The nominated members of Seanad Éireann shall be nominated, with their prior consent, by the Taoiseach who is appointed next after the reassembly of Dáil Éireann following the dissolution thereof which occasions the nomination of the said members.
4 1° The elected members of Seanad Éireann shall be elected as follows:—
i Three shall be elected by the National University of Ireland.
ii Three shall be elected by the University of Dublin.
iii Forty-three shall be elected from panels of candidates constituted as hereinafter provided.
2° Provision may be made by law for the election, on a franchise and in the manner to be provided by law, by one or more of the following institutions, namely:
i the universities mentioned in subsection 1° of this section,
ii any other institutions of higher education in the State,
of of so many members of Seanad Éireann as may be fixed by law in substitution for an equal number of the members to be elected pursuant to paragraphs i and ii of the said subsection 1°.
A member or members of Seanad Éireann may be elected under this subsection by institutions grouped together or by a single institution.

5 Every election of the elected members of Seanad Éireann shall be held on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote, and by secret postal ballot.
6 The members of Seanad Éireann to be elected by the Universities shall be elected on a franchise and in the manner to be provided by law.
7 1° Before each general election of the members of Seanad Éireann to be elected from panels of candidates, five panels of candidates shall be formed in the manner provided by law containing respectively the names of persons having knowledge and practical experience of the following interests and services, namely:–
i National Language and Culture, Literature, Art, Education and such professional interests as may be defined by law for the purpose of this panel;

2° Not more than eleven and, subject to the provisions of Article 19 hereof, not less than five members of Seanad Éireann shall be elected from any one panel.

- English(1) A person shall not be qualified to be elected or chosen as a member of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) unless-
(a) he is a citizen of Pakistan;
(b) he is, in the case of the National Assembly, not less than twenty-five years of age and is enrolled as a voter in any electoral roll in-
(i) any part of Pakistan, for election to a general seat or a seat reserved for a non-Muslims; and
(ii) any area in a Province from which she seeks membership for election to a seat reserved for women.
(c) he is, in the case of the Senate, not less than thirty years of age and is enrolled as a voter in any area in a Province or, as the case may be, the Federal Capital from where he seeks membership;
(d) he is of good character and is not commonly known as one who violates Islamic Injunctions;
(e) he has adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings and practices obligatory duties prescribed by Islam as well as abstains from major sins;
(f) he is sagacious, righteous, non-profligate, honest and ameen, there being no declaration to the contrary by a court of law; and
(g) he has not, after the establishment of Pakistan, worked against the integrity of the country or opposed the ideology of Pakistan.
(2) The disqualifications specified in paragraphs (d) and (e) shall not apply to a person who is a non-Muslim, but such a person shall have good moral reputation. (Art. 62) - Urdu(١) کوئی شخص مجلس شوریٰ (پارلیمینٹ) کا رکن منتخب ہونے یا چنے جانے کا اہل نہیں ہو گا اگر۔۔
(الف) وہ پاکستان کا شہری نہ ہو؛
(ب) وہ قومی اسمبلی کی صورت میں ,پچیس سال سے کم عمر کا ہواور کسی انتخابی فہرست میں ووٹر کی حیثییت سے، (اول) پاکستان کے کسی حصہ میں، عام نشست یا غیر مسلموں کے لئے مخصوص کسی نشست پر انتخاب کے لئےدرج نہ ہو؛ اور
(دوم) کسی صوبہ کے ایسے علاقے میں جہاں سے وہ خواتین کے لئے مخصوص نشست پر انتخاب کے لئے رکنیت چاہتی ہو، درج نہ ہو۔
(ج) وہ سینٹ کی صورت میں تیس سال سے کم عمر کا ہو اور کسی صوبے میں کسی علاقے میں یا، جیسی بھی صورت ہو وفاقی درالحکومت میں جہاں سے وہ رکنیت چاہتا ہو بطور ووٹر درج نہ ہو؛
(د) وہ اچھے کردار کا حامل نہ ہو اورعام طور پراحکام اسلام سے انحراف میں مشہور ہو؛
(ہ) وہ اسلامی تعلیمات کا خاطرخواہ علم نہ رکھتا ہو اور اسلام کے مقررکردہ فرائض کا پابند نیز کبیرہ گناہوں سے مجتنب نہ ہو؛
(و) وہ سمجھدار، پارسا نہ ہو اور فاسق ہو اور ایماندار اور امین نہ ہو , عدالت نےاس کےبرعکس قرار نہ دیا ہو؛ اور
(ز) اس نے قیام پاکستان کے بعد ملک کی سالمیت کے خلاف کام کیا ہو یا نظریہ پا کستان کی مخالفت کی ہو۔
(۲) پیراجات (د)اور(ہ) میں صراحت کردہ نااہلیوں کا کسی ایسے شخص پر اطلاق نہیں ہو گا جو غیرمسلم ہو، لیکن ایسا شخص اچھی اخلا قی شہرت کا حامل ہو گا۔ ( آرٹیکل۶۲ )

- English1. Subject to the provisions of section 59 of this Constitution, a person shall be qualified to be nominated as a Senator by the King acting in accordance with the advice of the Council of State or designated by a Principal Chief as a Senator in his place if, and shall not be so qualified unless, at the date of his nomination or designation, he—
a. is a citizen of Lesotho; and
b. is able to speak and, unless incapacitated by blindness or other physical cause, to read and write either the Sesotho or English languages well enough to take an active part in the proceedings of the Senate.
2. Subject to the provisions of section 59 of this Constitution, a person shall be qualified to be elected as a member of the National Assembly if, and shall not be so qualified unless, at the date of his nomination for election, he—
a. is a citizen of Lesotho; and
b. is registered in some constituency as an elector in elections to the National Assembly and is not disqualified from voting in such elections; and
c. is able to speak and, unless incapacitated by blindness or other physical cause, to read and write either the Sesotho or English language well enough to take an active part in the proceedings of the National Assembly. (Sec. 58)
