(1) The existing law shall continue to be in force but shall be construed with such modifications, adaptations, qualifications and exceptions as may be necessary to bring it into conformity with sections 12 to 235 of this Constitution.
(2) For the purpose of this section “existing law” means a law that
(a) was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and has continued to be part of the law of Barbados at all times since that day;
(b) re-enacted a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 without alteration; or
(c) altered a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and does not thereby render that law inconsistent with sections 12 to 23 of this Constitution in a manner in which, or to an extent to which, it was not previously so inconsistent.

Respecting the Basic Statute of the State, laws, royal decrees and orders, and regulations and decisions issued by public authorities in the implementation of them, as well as observing public order and respecting public morality, is a duty on citizens, residents, and those present in the Sultanate. - English(1) All existing law inconsistent with the provisions of this Part5 shall, to the extent of such inconsistency, become void on the commencement of this Constitution.
(2) The State shall not make any law inconsistent with any provisions of this Part, and any law so made shall, to the extent of such inconsistency, be void.

(২) রাষ্ট্র এই ভাগের কোন বিধানের সহিত অসমঞ্জস কোন আইন প্রণয়ন করিবেন না এবং অনুরূপ কোন আইন প্রণীত হইলে তাহা এই ভাগের কোন বিধানের সহিত যতখানি অসামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ, ততখানি বাতিল হইয়া যাইবে।
(৩) সংবিধানের ১৪২ অনুচ্ছেদের অধীন প্রণীত সংশোধনের ক্ষেত্রে এই অনুচ্ছেদের কোন কিছুই প্রযোজ্য হইবে না। (অনুচ্ছেদ ২৬)
