- EnglishThe President of the Republic chooses a Prime Minister from among the members of the Party having the absolute majority in the Parliament. The majority is established on the basis of the electoral results of those elected in each of the two Chambers. In default of this majority, the President of the Republic chooses the Prime Minister in consultation with the President of the Senate and that of the Chamber of Deputies. (Art. 137)

1) To be a national of Nicaragua. Those that have acquired other nationality must have renounced it at least four years prior to the date of their appointment.

3) To have completed twenty-five years of age.
