- EnglishFirst: The Council of Representatives shall elect a President of the Republic from among the candidates by a two-thirds majority of the number of its members.
Second: If none of the candidates receive the required majority vote then the two candidates who received the highest number of votes shall compete and the one who receives the majority of votes in the second election shall be declared President. - English1. The President of the Russian Federation shall be elected for six years by citizens of the Russian Federation on the basis of universal, equal, direct suffrage by secret ballot.
2. Any citizen of the Russian Federation not younger than 35 years of age who has resided in the Russian Federation on a permanent basis for not less than 25 years, who does not have and never had foreign citizenship, residence permit or another document certifying the right of the citizen of the Russian Federation to have residence in the territory of a foreign state may be elected President of the Russian Federation. The requirement for the candidate for election as the President of the Russian Federation to have no and have had no citizenship of a foreign state shall not apply to citizens of the Russian Federation who previously had had a citizenship of a foreign state that was fully or partially accepted into the Russian Federation in accordance with the federal constitutional law and have had permanently lived in the foreign state accepted into the Russian Federation or in the territory of the part of foreign state accepted into the Russian Federation. The President of the Russian Federation in order established by the federal law shall be forbidden from opening and having bank accounts (deposits), keeping cash assets and valuables in foreign banks situated outside the territory of the Russian Federation.
... (Art. 81) - Russian1. Президент Российской Федерации избирается сроком на шесть лет гражданами Российской Федерации на основе всеобщего равного и прямого избирательного права при тайном голосовании.
2. Президентом Российской Федерации может быть избран гражданин Российской Федерации не моложе 35 лет, постоянно проживающий в Российской Федерации не менее 25 лет, не имеющий и не имевший ранее гражданства иностранного государства либо вида на жительство или иного документа, подтверждающего право на постоянное проживание гражданина Российской Федерации на территории иностранного государства. Требование к кандидату на должность Президента Российской Федерации об отсутствии у него гражданства иностранного государства не распространяется на граждан Российской Федерации, ранее имевших гражданство государства, которое было принято или часть которого была принята в Российскую Федерацию в соответствии с федеральным конституционным законом, и постоянно проживавших на территории принятого в Российскую Федерацию государства или территории принятой в Российскую Федерацию части государства. Президенту Российской Федерации в порядке, установленном федеральным законом, запрещается открывать и иметь счета (вклады), хранить наличные денежные средства и ценности в иностранных банках, расположенных за пределами территории Российской Федерации.
