The elections of the Deputies take place following the ballot of bloc lists [listes bloquées] by proportional representation. These lists must have a multi-ethnic character and take into account the equilibrium between men and women. For three candidates registered together [inscrits à la suite] on a list, only two may belong to the same ethnic group, and at least one in three must be a woman. (Art. 173)

The State works for the promotion of the political rights of women by increasing their chances of access to representation in the elected assemblies.
The modalities of application of this Article are established by the law. (Art. 36)
