- EnglishI. The nations and native indigenous rural peoples shall exercise their jurisdictional functions and competency through their authorities, and shall apply their own principles, cultural values, norms and procedures.
II. The rural native indigenous jurisdiction respects the right to life, the right to defense and other rights and guarantees established in this Constitution. (Art. 190) - SpanishI. Las naciones y pueblos indígena originario campesinos ejercerán sus funciones jurisdiccionales y de competencia a través de sus autoridades, y aplicarán sus principios, valores culturales, normas y procedimientos propios.

- EnglishThe exploitation of natural resources in a determined territory shall be subject to a process of consultation with the affected population, called by the State, which shall be free, prior in time and informed. Citizen participation is guaranteed in the process of the management of the environment, and the conservation of ecosystems shall be promoted, in accordance with the Constitution and the law. In the nations and rural native indigenous peoples, the consultation will be carried out with respect given to their own norms and procedures. (Art. 352)

(a) the Scheduled Castes; and
(b) the Scheduled Tribes,
in every Panchayat and the number of seats so reserved shall bear, as nearly as may be, the same proportion to the total number of seats to be filled by direct election in that Panchayat as the population of the Scheduled Castes in that Panchayat area or of the Scheduled Tribes in that Panchayat area bears to the total population of that area and such seats may be allotted by rotation to different constituencies in a Panchayat.

- English(1) The existing aboriginal and treaty rights of the aboriginal peoples of Canada are hereby recognized and affirmed.
(2) In this Act, “aboriginal peoples of Canada” includes the Indian, Inuit and Métis peoples of Canada.
(3) For greater certainty, in subsection (1) “treaty rights” includes rights that now exist by way of land claims agreements or may be so acquired.
(4) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the aboriginal and treaty rights referred to in subsection (1) are guaranteed equally to male and female persons. - English(1) There shall be a Commission for the Scheduled Tribes to be known as the National Commission for the Scheduled Tribes.

(5) It shall be the duty of the Commission:
(a) to investigate and monitor all matters relating to the safeguards provided for the Scheduled Tribes under this Constitution or under any other law for the time being in force or under any order of the Government and to evaluate the working of such safeguards;
(b) to inquire into specific complaints with respect to the deprivation of rights and safeguards of the Scheduled Tribes;
(c) to participate and advise on the planning process of socioeconomic development of the Scheduled Tribes and to evaluate the progress of their development under the Union and any State;
(d) to present to the President, annually and at such other times as the Commission may deem fit, reports upon the working of those safeguards;
(e) to make in such reports recommendation as to the measures that should be taken by the Union or any State for the effective implementation of those safeguards and other measures for the protection, welfare and socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes; and
(f) to discharge such other functions in relation to the protection, welfare and development and advancement of the Scheduled Tribes as the President may, subject to the provisions of any law made by Parliament, by rule specify.

(ग) अनुसूचित जनजातियों के सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास की योजना प्रक्रिया में भाग ले और उन पर सलाह दे तथा संघ और किसी राज्य के अधीन उनके विकास की प्रगति का मूल्यांकन करे;
(घ) उन रक्षोपायों के कार्यकरण के बारे में प्रतिवर्ष, और ऐसे अन्य समयों पर, जो आयोग ठीक समझे, राष्ट्रपति को रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करे;
(ड.) ऐसे रिपोर्ट में उन उपायों के बारे में जो उन रक्षोपायों के प्रभावपूर्ण कार्यान्वयन के लिए संघ या किसी राज्य द्वारा किए जाने चाहिए, तथा अनुसूचित जनजातियों के संरक्षण, कल्याण और सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास के लिए अन्य उपायों के बारे में सिफ़ारिश करे; और

- EnglishThe form of the indigenous territorial entities will be made subject to what the Organic Law of Territorial Ordering provides, and their delimitation will be made by the National Government, with the participation of the representatives of the indigenous communities, after the opinion of the Commission of Territorial Ordering.The reservations [resguardos] are collective property and non-alienable.
The law will define the relations and coordination of these entities with those of which they form a part.

The Agrarian Reform will eliminate the idle latifundios [large estates] and will be made by priority with lands of the State. When the expropriation of idle latifundios affects private owners [proprietarios], it will be fulfilled within that stipulated in Article 44 of this Constitution. The Agrarian Reform shall eliminate any form of exploitation of the peasants, and of the indigenous communities of the country and shall promote forms of ownership compatible with the economic and social objectives of the Nation, established in this Constitution. The regime of ownership of the indigenous communities will be regulated in accordance with the law on the matter. (Art. 107)
