- EnglishNotwithstanding anything in article 5, any person who or either of whose parents or any of whose grand-parents was born in India as defined in the Government of India Act, 1935 (as originally enacted), and who is ordinarily residing in any country outside India as so defined shall be deemed to be a citizen of India if he has been registered as a citizen of India by the diplomatic or consular representative of India in the country where he is for the time being residing on an application made by him therefor to such diplomatic or consular representative, whether before or after the commencement of this Constitution, in the form and manner prescribed by the Government of the Dominion of India or the Government of India. - English(1) Subject to this Article, every person born in Singapore after 16th September 1963 shall be a citizen of Singapore by birth.
(2) A person shall not be a citizen of Singapore by virtue of clause (1) if at the time of his birth —
(a) his father, not being a citizen of Singapore, possessed such immunity from suit and legal process as is accorded to an envoy of a sovereign power accredited to the President;
(b) his father was an enemy alien and the birth occurred in a place then under the occupation of the enemy; or
(c) Neither of his parents was a citizen of Singapore.
(3) Notwithstanding clause (2)(c), the Government may, where it considers it just and fair and having regard to all the circumstances prevailing at the time of the application, confer citizenship upon a person born in Singapore. (Art. 121)
Citizenship and Nationality
- English(1) There shall be one status of citizenship known as “the status of a citizen of Sri Lanka”.
(2) A citizen of Sri Lanka shall for all purposes be described only as a “citizen of Sri Lanka”, whether such person became entitled to citizenship by descent or by virtue of registration in accordance with the law relating to citizenship.
(3) No distinction shall be drawn between citizens of Sri Lanka for any purpose by reference to the mode of acquisition of such status, as to whether acquired by descent or by virtue of registration.
(4) No citizen of Sri Lanka shall be deprived of his status of a citizen of Sri Lanka, except under and by virtue of the provisions of sections 19, 20, 21 and 22 of the Citizenship Act:
Provided that the provisions of sections 23 and 24 of that Act shall also be applicable to a person who became entitled to the status of a citizen of Sri Lanka by virtue of registration under the provisions of section 11, 12 or 13 of that Act.
(5) Every person who immediately prior to the commencement of the Constitution was a citizen of Sri Lanka, whether by descent or by virtue of registration in accordance with any law relating to citizenship, shall be entitled to the status and to the rights of a citizen of Sri Lanka as provided in the preceding provisions of this Article.
(6) The provisions of all existing written laws relating to citizenship and all other existing written laws wherein reference is made to citizenship shall be read subject to the preceding provisions of this Article. (Art. 26) - Sinhala(1) "ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකුගේ තත්ත්වය" යනුවෙන් හඳුන්වනු ලබන එකම පුරවැසි තත්ත්වයක් විය යුත්තේ ය.
(2) ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකුට, පුරවැසිභාවය හිමි වූයේ පරම්පරාවෙන් වුව ද, පුරවැසිභාවය පිළිබඳ නීතියට අනුකූලව ලියාපදිංචිවීමෙන් වුව ද, ඒ තැනැත්තා සියලු කාර්ය සඳහා "ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියෙක්" යනුවෙන් පමණක් විස්තර කරනු ලබන්නේ ය.
(3) පුරවැසි තත්ත්වය අත්කර ගනු ලැබූ ආකාරය, එනම්, පරම්පරාවෙන් ද, නැතහොත් ලියාපදිංචි වීමෙන් ද යනු සලකා කවර වූ හෝ කාර්යයක් සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියන් වෙසෙසා නොදැක්විය යුත්තේ ය.
(4) ශ්රී ලංකාවේ කිසිම පුරවැසියකුට පුරවැසියකු වශයෙන් ඔහුගේ තත්ත්වය පුරවැසි පනතේ 19 වැනි, 20 වැනි, 21 වැනි සහ 22 වැනි වගන්තිවල විධිවිධාන යටතේ සහ ඒ වගන්තිවල විධිවිධාන ප්රකාර මිස අහිමි නො කළ යුත්තේ ය:
එසේ වුව ද, පුරවැසි පනතේ 11 වැනි, 12 වැනි හෝ 13 වැනි වගන්තිවල විධිවිධාන යටතේ ලියාපදිංචි කරනු ලැබීමෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකුගේ තත්ත්වයට හිමිකම් ලැබූ තැනැත්තකුට ඒ පනතේ 23 වැනි සහ 24 වැනි වගන්තිවල විධිවිධාන ද අදාළ වන්නේ ය.
(5) ආණ්ඩුක්රම ව්යවස්ථාව ක්රියාත්මකවීම ආරම්භ වන තෙක් පරම්පරාවෙන් නැතහොත් පුරවැසිභාවය පිළිබඳ යම් නීතියකට අනුකූලව ලියාපදිංචි වීමෙන් හෝ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකුව සිටි සෑම තැනැත්තකුට ම, මේ ව්යවස්ථාවේ මීට ඉහතින් ඇති විධිවිධානවලින් විධිවිධාන සලසා ඇති පරිදි ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකුගේ තත්ත්වයට සහ ශ්රී ලංකා පුරවැසියකුගේ අයිතිවාසිකම්වලට හිමිකම් ලැඛෙන්නේ ය.
(6) පුරවැසිභාවය හා සම්බන්ධ සියලු පවත්නා ලිඛිත නීති සහ පුරවැසිභාවය ගැන සඳහන් කරන වෙනත් සියලු පවත්නා ලිඛිත නීති මේ ව්යවස්ථාවේ මීට ඉහතින් වූ විධිවිධානවලට යටත්ව තේරුම් ගත යුත්තේ ය. (26 වැනි වගන්තිය)

- English1. Subject to the provisions of Part III5 of this Constitution, the following persons born on or after Malaysia Day are citizens by operation of law, that is to say:
(a) every person born within the Federation of whose parents one at least is at the time of the birth either a citizen or permanently resident in the Federation; and
(b) every person born outside the Federation whose father is at the time of the birth a citizen and either was born in the Federation or is at the time of the birth in the service of the Federation or of a State; and
(c) every person born outside the Federation whose father is at the time of the birth a citizen and whose birth is, within one year of its occurrence or within such longer period as the Federal Government may in any particular case allow, registered at a consulate of the Federation or, if it occurs in Brunei or in a territory prescribed for this purpose by order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, registered with the Federal Government; and
(d) every person born in Singapore of whose parents one at least is at the time of the birth a citizen and who is not born a citizen otherwise than by virtue of this paragraph; and
(e) every person born within the Federation who is not born a citizen of any country otherwise than by virtue of this paragraph.

(c) tiap-tiap orang yang lahir di luar Persekutuan yang bapanya pada masa kelahiran itu seorang warganegara dan dalam masa satu tahun selepas kelahiran itu berlaku atau dalam masa apa-apa tempoh yang lebih lanjut sebagaimana yang dibenarkan oleh Kerajaan Persekutuan dalam mana-mana hal tertentu, kelahiran itu didaftarkan di suatu konsulat Persekutuan atau, jika kelahiran itu berlaku di Brunei atau di sesuatu wilayah yang ditetapkan bagi maksud ini melalui perintah Yang di-Pertuan Agong, didaftarkan dengan Kerajaan Persekutuan; dan
(d) tiap-tiap orang yang lahir di Singapura dan sekurang-kurangnya seorang daripada ibu bapanya pada masa kelahiran itu seorang warganegara dan orang itu pada masa dia lahir tidak menjadi warganegara selain menurut kuasa perenggan ini; dan
(e) tiap-tiap orang yang lahir di Persekutuan dan pada masa dia lahir tidak menjadi warganegara mana-mana negara selain menurut kuasa perenggan ini.

1. A person, both of whose parents are citizens of Bhutan, shall be a natural born citizen of Bhutan.
2. A person, domiciled in Bhutan on or before the Thirty-First of December Nineteen Hundred and Fifty Eight and whose name is registered in the official record of the Government of Bhutan shall be a citizen of Bhutan by registration.
3. A person who applies for citizenship by naturalization shall:
a. Have lawfully resided in Bhutan for at least fifteen years;
b. Not have any record of imprisonment for criminal offences within the country or outside;
c. Be able to speak and write Dzongkha;
d. Have a good knowledge of the culture, customs, traditions and history of Bhutan;
e. Have no record of having spoken or acted against the Tsawa-sum;
f. Renounce the citizenship, if any, of a foreign State on being conferred Bhutanese citizenship; and
g. Take a solemn Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution as may be prescribed.
4. The grant of citizenship by naturalization shall take effect by a Royal Kasho of the Druk Gyalpo.
5. If any citizen of Bhutan acquires the citizenship of a foreign State, his or her citizenship of Bhutan shall be terminated.
6. Subject to the provisions of this Article and the Citizenship Acts, Parliament shall, by law, regulate all other matters relating to citizenship. (Art. 6) - Dzongkha

- English(1) A citizen of Singapore who is a citizen by registration or by naturalisation shall cease to be such a citizen if he is deprived of his citizenship by an order of the Government made in accordance with this Article.

(6) The Government may, by order, deprive of her citizenship any woman who is a citizen of Singapore by registration under Article 123(2) if the Government is satisfied that the marriage by virtue of which she was registered has been dissolved, otherwise than by death, within the period of 2 years beginning with the date of the marriage.
