Status of the Constitution
- English1. The Constitution is the fundamental and supreme law of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
All other legal documents must conform to the Constitution.
All violations of the Constitution shall be dealt with.
2. The National Assembly and its agencies, the President, the Government, People’s Courts, People’s Procuracies, other agencies of the State and all the People shall defend the Constitution.
The mechanism to defend the Constitution shall be prescribed by a law. (Art. 119) - Vietnamese1. Hiến pháp là luật cơ bản của nước Cộng hoà xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam, có hiệu lực pháp lý cao nhất.

Status of the Constitution
- English(1) This Constitution is the supreme law of the State.
(2) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, any law inconsistent with this Constitution is invalid to the extent of the inconsistency.
(3) This Constitution shall be upheld and respected by all Fijians and the State, including all persons holding public office, and the obligations imposed by this Constitution must be fulfilled.
(4) This Constitution shall be enforced through the courts, to ensure that––
(a) laws and conduct are consistent with this Constitution;
(b) rights and freedoms are protected; and
(c) duties under this Constitution are performed.
(5) This Constitution cannot be abrogated or suspended by any person, and may only be amended in accordance with the procedures prescribed in Chapter 11.
(6) Any attempt to establish a Government other than in compliance with this Constitution shall be unlawful, and––
(a) anything done to further that attempt is invalid and of no force or effect; and
(b) no immunities can lawfully be granted under any law to any person in respect of actions taken or omitted in furtherance of such an attempt. (Sec. 2) - iTaukei(1) Na Yavunivakavulewa qo e lawa cecere duadua ni Matanitu.

- English(1) The Government shall be regulated in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution, and the form of the Government shall not be altered save in pursuance of the power conferred by Article 85.
(2) Nothing in this Constitution shall be deemed to derogate from the prerogative powers and jurisdiction of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan and, for the avoidance of doubt, it is declared that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan retains the power to make laws and to proclaim a further Part or Parts of the law of this Constitution as to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan from time to time may seem expedient. (1) A law in force in Nauru immediately before Independence Day continues in force, subject to this Constitution and to any amendment of that law made by a law enacted under this Constitution or by order under clause (6) of this Article, until repealed by a law enacted under this Constitution.
(2) A law which has not been brought into force in Nauru before Independence Day may, subject to this Constitution and to any amendment of that law made by law, be brought into force on or after Independence Day and a law brought into force under this clause continues in force subject as aforesaid, until repealed by a law enacted under this Constitution.

- EnglishIf the Constitutional Court referred to [the matter] by the President of the Republic or by a Deputy, has declared that an international engagement contains a clause contrary to the Constitution, the authorization to ratify it or to approve it may only intervene after the revision of the Constitution.
A law authorizing the ratification or the approval of an international engagement may not be promulgated and enter into force when it has been declared nonconforming to the Constitution.
