1 - In the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, political parties may be formed freely under the terms of the Constitution and the law.
2 - Political parties shall compete for the organization and expression of the popular will and political pluralism.
3 - Parties must respect national independence and unity, territorial integrity and pluralist democracy, with the duty to obey democratic rules and in their organization and operation.
4 - It shall be prohibited to form regional or local parties, parties that foment racism or tribalism and parties that propose the use of violent means in pursuit of their purposes.
5 - The name of a party may not be identified with any part of the national territory or evoke the name of a person, church, religion, confession or religious doctrine.
6 - Party presidents must be native Guinean citizens. (Art. 4)
