Status of the Constitution
- English1. The Constitution shall be the supreme law of the Republic of Angola.
2. The state shall be subject to the Constitution and shall be based on the rule of law, respecting the law and ensuring that the law is respected.
3. Laws, treaties and other acts of the state, local government bodies and public bodies in general shall only be valid if they conform to the Constitution. (Art. 6) - Portuguese1. A Constituição é a lei suprema da República de Angola.

A provision declared unconstitutional may not be promulgated or implemented.
The decisions of the Constitutional Council are not susceptible to any recourse. They impose themselves on the public powers and on all the administrative and jurisdictional authorities. (Art. 159) - French

- EnglishAll laws, ordinances and statutory provisions that contradict any explicit provision of the present Constitutional deed shall hereby be repealed and rendered invalid; those legal provisions inconsistent with the spirit of this fundamental law shall be revised to conform with the Constitution.
