- EnglishWhen the Constitutional Court, referred to [the matter] by the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Senate, a quarter of the members of the National Assembly or of the Senate, has declared that an international engagement contains a clause contrary to the Constitution, the authorization to ratify this engagement may only intervene after amendment or revision of the Constitution. (Art. 283)

- English(1) After the Shari’ah, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia is the supreme law of the country. It binds the government and guides policy initiatives and decisions in all sections of government.
(2) Any law, or administrative action that is contrary to the Constitution may be invalidated by the Constitutional Court, which has the authority to do so in accordance with this Constitution. - EnglishWhen the Constitutional Court establishes that the law is not in conformity with the Constitution and confirmed and published international agreements, that is, that other regulation is not in conformity with the Constitution and the law, that law and other regulation shall cease to be valid on the date of publication of the decision of the Constitutional Court.
The law or other regulation, i.e. their individual provisions that were found inconsistent with the Constitution or the law by the decision of the Constitutional Court, shall not be applied to the relations that have occurred prior to the publication of the Constitutional Court decision, if they have not been solved by an absolute ruling by that date. Zakon ili drugi propis, odnosno pojedine njihove odredbe, za koje je odlukom Ustavnog suda utvrđeno da nijesu saglasne sa Ustavom ili zakonom, ne mogu se primjenjivati na odnose koji su nastali prije objavljivanja odluke Ustavnog suda ako do tog dana nijesu pravosnažno riješeni. (Član 152)

- EnglishThis Constitution, the laws of the Congress of the Union that emanate from it, and all the Treaties that are in accord with them, celebrated and that are celebrated by the President of the Republic, with the approval of the Senate, will be the Supreme Law of all of the Union. The judges of each federative entity will be bound to the said Constitution, laws, and treaties, regardless of provisions to the contrary that may be [haber] in the Constitutions or laws of the federative entities. - EnglishIn the event of referral to the Constitutional Council by way of action, a law or a provision declared contrary to Constitution may not be promulgated or implemented. A law or provision contrary to the Constitution is null and void with respect to everyone.
In case of referral to the Constitutional Council by way of exception, the decision of the Constitutional Council applies to everyone, beyond the parties to the trial. A law or provision declared unconstitutional by the Council is repealed. (Art. 137) - FrenchEn cas de saisine du Conseil constitutionnel par voie d’action, une loi ou une disposition déclarée contraire à la Constitution ne peut être promulguée ou mise en application. La loi ou la disposition contraire à la Constitution est nulle à l’égard de tous.
En cas de saisine du Conseil constitutionnel par voie d’exception, la décision du Conseil constitutionnel s’impose à tous, au-delà des parties au procès. La loi ou la disposition déclarée inconstitutionnelle par le Conseil constitutionnel est abrogée. (Art. 137)
