(1) The family shall constitute the natural and fundamental element of the society and shall enjoy protection from the State and the society.
(2) The family shall be founded on a freely consented marriage between man and woman, on their equality of rights and on the right and obligation of parents to ensure upbringing and education of their children.
(3) The conditions to conclude, terminate or void a marriage are laid down by the law.

The property which a person possesses at the time of marriage or which may afterwards be acquired as a result of one’s own labors shall not be held for or otherwise applied to the liquidation of the debts or other obligations of the spouse, whether contracted before or after marriage; nor shall the property which by law is to be secured to a man or a woman be alienated or be controlled by that person’s spouse save by free and voluntary consent.

- English(a) Every person of marriageable age as determined by law has the right to marry, and to establish a family as specified in law. The family, being the natural and fundamental unit of society, is entitled to special protection by society and the State.
(b) Children must be afforded special protection as specified in law in the event of a marital breakdown of the parents. Families, finding themselves in difficult material and social circumstances particularly those with many children or a single parent – shall have the right to special assistance from public authorities.
2. A mother, before and after birth, shall have the right to special assistance from public authorities, to the extent specified by statute. (Art. 71) - Polish1.
