- EnglishThe Legislative Branch shall be composed of a body named the National Assembly whose members shall be elected on the basis of party nominations or independent nominations through direct popular vote, in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.
The requirements and proceedings established by the law for the formalization of independent nominations shall be equivalent and proportionate to those required for the registration of political parties and the presentation of party nominations, as far as applicable. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be the chamber of territorial representation and shall consist of members of the Senate (senators).
Members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be elected in equal quantity – six persons – from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions (viloyats), and the city of Tashkent by secret ballot at relevant joint sittings of deputies of Zhokarghy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, representative bodies of the state of regions (viloyats), districts (tumans), cities and towns from among these deputies. Sixteen members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be appointed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from among the most authoritative citizens with large practical experience and special merits in the spheres of science, art, literature, manufacture and other spheres of state and public activity.
A deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, may be a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan who has reached on the date of the elections twenty-five years of age and who has permanently resided in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan for not less than five years. Requirements for candidates to be a deputy shall be determined by law.
One and the same person may not be simultaneously a deputy of the Legislative Chamber and a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. - English1. Members of the House of Peoples' Representatives shall be elected by the People for a term of five years on the basis of universal suffrage and by direct, free and fair elections held by secret ballot.
2. Members of the House shall be elected from candidates in each electoral district by a plurality of the votes cast. Provisions shall be made by law for special representation for minority Nationalities and Peoples.
3. Members of the House, on the basis of population and special representation of minority Nationalities and Peoples, shall not exceed 550; of these, minority Nationalities and Peoples shall have at least 20 seats. Particulars shall be determined by law.

2. የምክር ቤቱ አባላት በአንድ የምርጫ ክልል ውስጥ ከሌሎች ተወዳዳሪዎች መካከል አብላጫ ድምጽ ያገኘ ተወዳዳሪ አሸናፊ በሚሆንበት የምርጫ ሥርዓት ይመረጣሉ፡፡ የተለየ ውክልና ያሰፈልጋቸዋል ተብሎ የታመነባቸው አናሳ ብሔረሰቦች እና ሕዝቦች በምርጫ የሕዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት አባል ይሆናሉ፡፡ ዝርዝሩ በሕግ ይወሰናል፡፡
3. የምክር ቤቱ አባላት ቁጥር የሕዝብ ብዛትንና በልዩ ትኩረት ውክልና የሚሰጣቸው አናሳ ብሔረሰቦችና ሕዝቦችን ቁጥር መሰረት በማድረግ 550 የማይበልጥ ሆኖ ከዚህ ውስጥ አናሳ ብሔረሰቦች 20 የማያንስ መቀመጫ ይኖራቸዋል፡፡ ዝርዝሩ በሕግ ይደነግጋል፡፡

- English(1) The Senate shall consist of thirty-one members (in this Constitution referred to as “Senators”) who shall be appointed by the President in accordance with this section.
(2) Of the thirty-one Senators—
(a) sixteen shall be appointed by the President acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister;
