Political Parties
- EnglishThe political parties may freely constitute themselves, in accordance with the law. They are registered [agréés] in accordance with the law. (Art. 76)

- EnglishAn association without a lucrative goal regrouping citizens around a project of [a] democratic society founded on the national unity, with a distinctive political program of precise objectives responding to the concern to serve the general interest and to assure the development [épanouissement] of all citizens[,] constitutes a political party. (Art. 77)

Political Parties
- EnglishIn their organization and their functioning the political parties must respond to democratic principles. They must be opened to all Burundians and their national character must also be reflected at the level of their leadership [direction]. They may not advocate [prôner] violence, exclusion and hatred in any of their forms, notably those based on ethnic, regional, religious or gender [genre] affiliation. (Art. 78)
- KirundiMw’itunganywa ryayo n’ingene ikora, imigambwe itegerezwa kwisunga ingingo ngenderwako ziranga intwaro rusangi. Ikemera kwinjirwamwo n’abarundi bose, bikagaragarira mu rwego nyobozi. Kirazira ko ishira imbere ugukoresha igikenye, ugukumira n’urwanko uko bimera kwose, nk’urufatira ku moko, intara, idini canke igitsin. (Ingingo ya 78)
- FrenchLes partis politiques, dans leur organisation et leur fonctionnement, doivent répondre aux principes démocratiques. Ils doivent être ouverts à tous les Burundais et leur caractère national doit également être reflété au niveau de leur direction. Ils ne peuvent prôner la violence, l’exclusion et la haine sous toutes leurs formes, notamment celles basées sur l’appartenance ethnique, régionale, religieuse ou de genre. (Art. 78)

- EnglishThe law guarantees the non-interference of the public powers in the internal functioning of the political parties, except for that of the restrictions necessary for the prevention of ethnic, political, regional, religious or gender hatred and to maintain the public order. (Art. 80)

- FrenchLa loi garantit la non-ingérence des pouvoirs publics dans le fonctionnement interne des partis politiques, sauf pour ce qui est des restrictions nécessaires à la prévention de la haine ethnique, politique, régionale, religieuse ou de genre et au maintien de l’ordre public. (Art. 80)
Political Parties
- EnglishThe external financing of the political parties is prohibited, save for exceptional derogation established by the law.
All financing of a nature that infringes the national independence and sovereignty is prohibited.
The law determines and organizes the sources of financing of the political parties. (Art. 83) - KirundiBirabujijwe ko imigambwe ihabwa imfanshanyo y’amafaranga ivuye mu mahanga kiretse ibwirizwa ribitangiye uruhusha rudasanzwe.
Imfashanyo y’amafaranga iyo ari yo yose yoshobora kubangamira ukwikukira kw’igihugu n’ukukibuza kwitunganiriza ivyaco irabujijwe.
Ibwirizwa ni ryo ritomora kandi rikaringaniza aho imfashanyo z’imigambwe zikomoka. (Ingingo ya 83) - FrenchLe financement extérieur des partis politiques est interdit, sauf dérogation exceptionnelle établie par la loi.
Tout financement de nature à porter atteinte à l’indépendance et à la souveraineté nationales est interdit.
La loi détermine et organise les sources de financement des partis politiques. (Art. 83)
Political Parties
- EnglishTo the end of promoting democracy, the law may authorize the financing of the political parties in an equitable manner, proportionally to the number of seats that they hold at the National Assembly. This financing may apply both [aussi bien] to the functioning of the political parties and [que] to the electoral campaigns, and must be transparent. The types of subventions, advantages and facilities that the State may grant to the political parties are established by the law. (Art. 84)

- FrenchAux fins de promouvoir la démocratie, la loi peut autoriser le financement des partis politiques de manière équitable, proportionnellement au nombre de sièges qu’ils détiennent à l’Assemblée nationale. Ce financement peut s’appliquer aussi bien au fonctionnement des partis politiques qu’aux campagnes électorales, et doit être transparent. Les types de subventions, d’avantages et de facilités que l’Etat peut accorder aux partis politiques sont fixés par la loi. (Art. 84)
