Vice-President

    The President of the Republic is the Head of the executive power. He is assisted in his functions by a Vice President of the Republic. (Art. 93)

    The Vice President is appointed by the President of the Republic after prior approval of his candidature by the National Assembly and the Senate voting separately and with an absolute majority of their members. He is chosen from among the elected [candidates] and must solely enjoy the Burundian nationality of origin.
