Employment Rights and Protection
- English1. Every citizen shall have the right to choose freely his or her occupation, work or profession or to pursue his or her professional training, except in cases of legal restrictions imposed by public interest or that may be inherent to his or her own ability or professional qualifications.

3. No one shall be obligated to undertake a certain job, except in compliance with a general public service that is equal for all or by virtue of a judicial decision, under the terms of the law. Todo o cidadão tem o direito de escolher livremente o seu ofício, trabalho ou profissão ou fazer a sua formação profissional, salvas as restrições legais impostas pelo interesse público ou inerentes à sua própria capacidade ou qualificação profissional.

- English1. Workers shall have the right to fair pay proportionate to the quantity, nature and quality of work performed.
2. Men and women shall receive equal pay for equal work.
3. The State shall create conditions for the establishment of a national minimum wage. (Art. 62) - Portuguese1. Os trabalhadores têm direito a justa retribuição segundo a quantidade, natureza e qualidade do trabalho prestado.
2. Por igual trabalho, o homem e a mulher percebem igual retribuição.
3. O Estado cria as condições para o estabelecimento de um salário mínimo nacional. (Art. 62)

a) Conditions of dignity, hygiene, health and safety at work;
b) A maximum limit to the working day;
c) Weekly rest;
d) Social security;
e) Rest and leisure.

4. The law shall make provisions for special protection with respect to the work of minors, of the disabled and of women during and after their pregnancy.
5. The law shall guarantee to women working conditions that will allow them the exercise of their maternal and family function. (Art. 63) - Portuguese1. Os trabalhadores têm, ainda, direito a:
a) Condições de dignidade, higiene, saúde e segurança no trabalho;
b) Um limite máximo da jornada de trabalho;
c) Descanso semanal;
d) Segurança social;
e) Repouso e lazer.

4. A lei estabelece especial protecção ao trabalho de menores, de portadores de deficiência e de mulheres durante a gravidez e pós-parto.
5. A lei garante à mulher condições de trabalho que facilitem o exercício da sua função maternal e familiar. (Art. 63)
