Status of the Constitution

    Where the Constitutional Council finds a provision of a treaty or of an international agreement unconstitutional, authorization to ratify and the ratification of the said treaty or agreement shall be deferred until the Constitution is amended. (Art. 44)

    Si le Conseil Constitutionnel a déclaré quʼun traité ou accord international comporte une clause contraire à la Constitution, lʼapprobation en forme législative ou la ratification de ce traité ou de cet accord ne peut intervenir quʼaprès la révision de la Constitution. (Art. 44)

    (2) A provision that has been declared unconstitutional may not be enacted or implemented. (Art. 50)

Constitution of the Republic of Cameroon 1972, as amended to 2008 (English). There are discrepancies in the numbering of the English and French texts. According to Art. 1(3): “The official languages of the Republic of Cameroon shall be English and French, both languages having the same status. ...”
