Political Rights and Association
- EnglishSuffrage is universal, direct or indirect, equal and secret.
All Chadians of both sexes, aged eighteen years of age and enjoying their civil and political rights[,] are electors within the conditions established by the law. (Art. 6) - Arabicحق التصويت شامل، مباشر أو غير مباشر ومتساوي وسرّي.
جميع التشاديين من الجنسيين الذي لا يقل عم عمرهم ثمانية عشر سنة ويتمتعون بحقوقهم المدنية والسياسية هم ناخبون بموجب الشروط المحددة في القانون. (المادة 6) - FrenchLe suffrage est universel, direct ou indirect, égal et secret.
Sont électeurs dans les conditions déterminées par la loi tous les Tchadiens des deux sexes, âgés de dix-huit ans révolus et jouissant de leurs droits civiques et politiques. (Art. 6)

Political Rights and Association
- EnglishThe State works for the promotion of the political rights of the woman for a better representation within the elected assemblies, the institutions and the public and private administrations.
The modalities of application of this Article are established by the law. (Art. 34) - Arabicتعمل الدولة على تعزيز الحقوق السياسية للمرأة من أجل تمثيل أفضل في المجالس المنتخبة والمؤسسات والإدارات العامة والخاصة. ويحدد
القانون طرائق تطبيق هذه المادة. (المادة 34) - FrenchL'Etat œuvre à la promotion des droits politiques de la femme par une meilleure représentation dans les assemblées élues, les institutions et administrations publiques et privées.
Les modalités d'application de cet article sont fixées par la loi. (Art. 34)
Political Parties
- EnglishPolitical parties and groups concur in the expression of suffrage. They form freely and exercise their activities according to conditions specified (prevues) by the law and in respect of the principles of National Sovereignty, of the territorial integrity, of national unity and of pluralistic democracy. (Art. 4)
- Arabicتتفق الأحزاب السياسية والمجموعات في التعبير عن الاقتراع. تتشكل بحرية وتمارس أنشطتها وفق الشروط المحددة في القانون وفي مجال احترام مبادئ السيادة الوطنية والسلامة الإقليمية والوحدة الوطنية والديمقراطية التعددية. (المادة 4)
- FrenchLes partis et les groupements politiques concourent à l'expression du suffrage. Ils se forment librement et exercent leurs activités dans les conditions prévues par la loi et dans le respect des principes de la souveraineté nationale, de l'intégrité territoriale, de l'unité nationale et de la démocratie pluraliste. (Art. 4)
Political Parties
- EnglishThe dissolution of associations, political parties and trade unions may only intervene within the conditions provided for by their statutes or by judicial means [voie] and also in case of the national unity [being] placed in danger. (Art. 31)
- Arabicيمكن التدخل في حل الجمعيات والأحزاب السياسية والنقابات العمالية فقط ضمن الشروط المنصوص عليها في نظامها الأساسي أو بوسائل قضائية وأيضاً في حالة تعرض الوحدة الوطنية للخطر. (المادة 31)
- FrenchLa dissolution des associations, des partis politiques et des syndicats ne peut intervenir que dans les conditions prévues par leurs statuts ou par voie judiciaire et aussi en cas de mise en danger de l'unité nationale. (Art. 31)
Head of State
- EnglishThe executive power is exercised by the President of the Republic. The President of the Republic is the elected [person] of the Nation and incarnates the national unity.
He is the guarantor of the national independence, of the integrity of the territory and of the respect for the Constitution, [and] for the treaties and international agreements.
... (Art. 65) - Arabicيمارس رئيس الجمهورية السلطة التنفيذية. رئيس الجمهورية هو منتخب الأمة ويجسد الوحدة الوطنية.
إنه ضامن الاستقلال الوطني والسلامة الإقليمية واحترام الدستور والمعاهدات والاتفاقيات الدولية.
... (المادة 65) - FrenchLe pouvoir exécutif est exercé par le Président de la République. Le Président de la République est l'élu de la Nation et incarne l'unité nationale.

- EnglishThe President is elected by universal direct suffrage for a mandate of six (6) years, renewable one time. (Art. 66)

Head of State
- EnglishChadians of the two (2) sexes meeting the following conditions[,] may make the act of candidature to the functions of President of the Republic:
- to be Chadian by birth, born of father and of mother themselves Chadian of origin and not having a nationality other than Chadian;
- to be forty-five (45) years old at a minimum;
- to enjoy all their civil and political rights;
- to have a good physical and mental health;
- to be of good morality;
- to reside on the territory of the Republic of Chad.
The candidate must also pay a surety [cautionnement] the amount of which is established by the law.
... (Art. 67) - Arabicيستطيع أن يترشح لمهام رئيس الجمهورية التشاديون من النوعين الاجتماعيين (2) الذين يفون بالشروط التالية:
- أن يكونوا تشاديين بالولادة، مولودين من أب وأم تشاديي الأصل ولا يحملون جنسية غير الجنسية التشادية؛
- أن لا يقل عمرهم عن 45 سنة
- يتمتعون بحقوقهم المدنية والسياسية؛
- يتمتعون بصحة جسدية وعقلية سليمة؛
- ذوي أخلاق حميدة؛
- يقيمون على أراضي جمهورية تشاد.
ويتعيّن على المرشح أيضاً دفع كفالة يحدد القانون قيمتها.
... (المادة 67) - FrenchPeuvent faire acte de candidature aux fonctions de Président de la République, les Tchadiens des deux (2) sexes remplissant les conditions suivantes:
- être Tchadien de naissance, né de père et de mère eux-mêmes Tchadiens d'origine et n'avoir pas une nationalité autre que tchadienne;
- avoir quarante cinq (45) ans au minimum;
- jouir de tous ses droits civiques et politiques;
- avoir une bonne santé physique et mentale;
- être de bonne moralité;
- résider sur le territoire de la République du Tchad,
Le candidat doit en outre verser un cautionnement dont le montant est fixé par la loi.
