The Senate assures the representation of the territorial collectivities and of the Ivoirians established outside the Côte d'Ivoire.
The Senators are elected, by two-thirds, by indirect universal suffrage. One third of the Senators are designated by the President of the Republic from among the Ivoirians recognized for their proven [avérées] expertise and competence in the political, administrative, economic, scientific, cultural, sports, professional and social domains.

Le Sénat assure la représentation des collectivités territoriales et des Ivoiriens établis hors de Côte d’Ivoire.
Les sénateurs sont élus, pour deux tiers, au suffrage universel indirect. Un tiers des sénateurs est désigné par le Président de la République parmi les Ivoiriens reconnus pour leur expertise et leur compétence avérées dans les domaines politique, administratif, économique, scientifique, culturel, sportif, professionnel et social.
