    The State is committed to respecting the Constitution, human rights and public freedoms. It ensures awareness and dissemination of them among the population.
    The State takes the necessary measures to integrate the Constitution, human rights and public freedoms into school and university education programs as well as into the training of defense and security forces, and of officials of the Administration. (Art. 28)

    L’Etat s’engage à respecter la Constitution, les droits de l’homme et les libertés publiques. Il veille à les faire connaître et à les diffuser au sein de la population.

    If the Constitutional Council, called upon by the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly or Senate or by at least one-tenth of deputies or senators, has declared that an international treaty or agreement contains a clause contrary to the Constitution, authorization to ratify it may take place only after review by the Constitution. (Art. 122)

    Si le Conseil constitutionnel, saisi par le Président de la République, le Président de l'Assemblée nationale ou du Sénat ou par un dixième au moins des députés ou des sénateurs, a déclaré qu'un traité ou un accord international comporte une clause contraire à la Constitution, l'autorisation de le ratifier ne peut intervenir qu'après la révision de la Constitution. (Art. 122)

    In the event of referral to the Constitutional Council by way of action, a law or a provision declared contrary to Constitution may not be promulgated or implemented. A law or provision contrary to the Constitution is null and void with respect to everyone.
    In case of referral to the Constitutional Council by way of exception, the decision of the Constitutional Council applies to everyone, beyond the parties to the trial. A law or provision declared unconstitutional by the Council is repealed. (Art. 137)

    En cas de saisine du Conseil constitutionnel par voie d’action, une loi ou une disposition déclarée contraire à la Constitution ne peut être promulguée ou mise en application. La loi ou la disposition contraire à la Constitution est nulle à l’égard de tous.
    En cas de saisine du Conseil constitutionnel par voie d’exception, la décision du Conseil constitutionnel s’impose à tous, au-delà des parties au procès. La loi ou la disposition déclarée inconstitutionnelle par le Conseil constitutionnel est abrogée. (Art. 137)

    The legislation currently in force in Côte d'Ivoire remains applicable, except for the intervention of new drafts, so long as it does not run counter to this Constitution. (Art. 183)
