Legislature

The legislative power is represented by a Parliament composed of two (2) Chambers: the National Assembly and the Senate.
The members of the National Assembly have the title of Deputy. They are elected by direct universal suffrage for a renewable term of five (5) years.
The members of the Senate have the title of Senator. They are designated by way of election by indirect universal suffrage and by way of appointment by the President of the Republic. The duration of the mandate of the Senators is of five (5) years renewable. The Senate assures the representation of the local collectivities.

Le pouvoir législatif est représenté par un Parlement composé de deux (2) chambres : l'Assemblée Nationale et le Sénat.
Les membres de l'Assemblée Nationale portent le titre de Député. Ils sont élus au suffrage universel direct pour une durée de cinq (5) ans renouvelable.
Les membres du Sénat portent le titre de sénateur. Ils sont désignés par voie d’élection au suffrage universel indirect et par voie de nomination par le Président de la République. La durée du mandat des sénateurs est de cinq (5) ans renouvelable. Le Sénat assure la représentation des collectivités locales.
