Limitations and/or Derogations
- English1. The rights enshrined in this Constitution shall not exclude any that might be specified in the laws or in the rules of international Laws.
2. The precepts relative to fundamental rights shall be interpreted in harmony with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. (Art. 18) - Portuguese1. Os direitos consagrados nesta Constituição não excluem quaisquer que sejam previstos nas leis ou em regras de Direitos internacionais.
2. Os preceitos relativos a direitos fundamentais são interpretados de harmonia com a Declaração Universal dos Direitos do Homem. (Art. 18)
Limitations and/or Derogations
- English1. The exercise of fundamental rights may only be restricted in cases provided for by the Constitution and suspended during a state of siege or a state of emergency declared under the terms of the Constitution and of the law.
2. No restriction or suspension of a right may be imposed for longer than strictly necessary. (Art. 19) - Portuguese1. O exercício dos direitos fundamentais só pode ser restringido nos casos previstos na Constituição e suspenso na vigência de estado de sítio ou de estado de emergência declarados nos termos da Constituição e da lei.
2. Nenhuma restrição ou suspensão de direito pode ser estabelecida para além do estritamente necessário. (Art. 19)

- EnglishCitizens shall have duties with respect to society and the State; they may not exercise their rights by violating the rights of other citizens, and by disrespecting the just demands of morality, of public order and of national independence defined in the law. (Art. 21)
