    The Government shall be the executive and administrative organ of the State, with the responsibility of conducting the overall policy of the country. (Art. 108)

    1. The Government shall consist of the Prime Minister, the Ministers and the Secretaries of State.
    2. The Prime Minister shall be the Head of Government, with the duty of directing and coordinating the action thereof and ensuring the implementation of laws. (Art. 109)

    1. O Governo é composto pelo Primeiro-Ministro, pelos Ministros e pelos Secretários de Estado.
    2. O Primeiro-Ministro é o Chefe do Governo, competindo- lhe dirigir e coordenar a acção deste e assegurar a execução das leis. (Art. 109)

    1. The Prime Minister shall be appointed by the President of the Republic, following hearings with the political parties represented in the National Assembly and taking into consideration the election results.
    2. The Ministers and Secretaries of State shall be appointed by the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Prime Minister.
    3. Only a citizen of São Tomé origin, the child of a São Toméan father or mother, who does not hold any other nationality, may be appointed Prime Minister. (Art. 110)

    1. O Primeiro-Ministro é nomeado pelo Presidente da República, ouvidos os partidos políticos representados na Assembleia Nacional e tendo em conta os resultados eleitorais.
    2. Os Ministros e Secretários de Estado são nomeados pelo Presidente da República, sob a proposta do Primeiro-Ministro.
    3. Só pode ser nomeado Primeiro-Ministro o cidadão são-tomense de origem, filho de pai ou mãe são-tomense, que não possua outra nacionalidade. (Art. 110)
