- EnglishAll people have the right to start a family. The State recognizes and protects families, regardless of their structure, as the basic cell of society, and works to guarantee that the holistic achievement of their objectives.
They are formed by legal, de facto, or emotional ties, and are based on the equality of rights, duties, and opportunities of its members.
Legal protection of the diverse types of families is regulated by the law. (Art. 81) - SpanishToda persona tiene derecho a fundar una familia. El Estado reconoce y protege a las familias, cualquiera sea su forma de organización, como célula fundamental de la sociedad y crea las condiciones para garantizar que se favorezca integralmente la consecución de sus fines.
Se constituyen por vínculos jurídicos o de hecho, de naturaleza afectiva, y se basan en la igualdad de derechos, deberes y oportunidades de sus integrantes.
La protección jurídica de los diversos tipos de familias es regulada por la ley. (Art. 81)

- EnglishMarriage is a social and legal institution. It is one of the organizational structures of families. It is based on free consent and on the equality of rights, obligations, and legal capacity of spouses.
The law determines how they are constituted and their effects.
Furthermore, it recognizes the stable and singular union with legal capacity that effectively forms a common life plan that, under the conditions and circumstances indicated in the law, generates the rights and obligations that the law provides. (Art. 82) - SpanishEl matrimonio es una institución social y jurídica. Es una de las formas de organización de las familias. Se funda en el libre consentimiento y en la igualdad de derechos, obligaciones y capacidad legal de los cónyuges.
La ley determina la forma en que se constituye y sus efectos.
Se reconoce, además, la unión estable y singular con aptitud legal, que forme de hecho un proyecto de vida en común, que bajo las condiciones y circunstancias que señale la ley, genera los derechos y obligaciones que esta disponga. (Art. 82)

Mothers and fathers have essential responsibilities and roles in the holistic education and upbringing them as citizens with moral, ethical, and civic values in correspondence with life within our socialist society.
Mothers and fathers or other relatives by blood or marriage who perform the roles of guardianship and caretakers have the duty to feed children and adolescents, respect and guarantee the full exercise of their rights, protect them from all types of violence, and contribute actively to the holistic development of their personality.
Children, in turn, are obligated to respect, care for, and protect their mothers, fathers, and other relatives, in accordance with that which is established by law. (Art. 84) - SpanishLa maternidad y la paternidad son protegidas por el Estado.
Las madres y los padres tienen responsabilidades y funciones esenciales en la educación y formación integral de las nuevas generaciones en los valores morales, éticos y cívicos, en correspondencia con la vida en nuestra sociedad socialista.
Las madres y los padres u otros parientes consanguíneos o afines que cumplan funciones de guarda y cuidado tienen el deber de dar alimentos a niñas, niños y adolescentes, respetar y garantizar el pleno ejercicio de sus derechos, protegerlos de todos los tipos de violencia y contribuir activamente al desarrollo pleno de su personalidad.
Los hijos, a su vez, están obligados a respetar, atender y proteger a sus madres, padres y otros parientes, conforme con lo establecido en la ley. (Art. 84)
