    Family in its various forms is recognized. The State shall protect it as the fundamental core of society and shall guarantee conditions that integrally favor the achievement of its goals. They shall be comprised of legal or common-law ties and shall be based on the equality of rights and the opportunities of their members.
    Marriage is the union of man and woman and shall be based on the free consent of the persons entering into this bond and on the equality of rights, obligations and legal capacity. (Art. 67)

    Se reconoce la familia en sus diversos tipos. El Estado la protegerá como núcleo fundamental de la sociedad y garantizará condiciones que favorezcan integralmente la consecución de sus fines.     The stable and monogamous union between two persons without any other marriage ties who have a common-law home, for the lapse of time and under the conditions and circumstances provided for by law, shall enjoy the same rights and obligations of those families bound by formal marriage ties.
    Adoption shall only be permitted for different-gender couples. (Art. 68)

    To protect the rights of persons who are members of a family:
    1. Responsible motherhood and fatherhood shall be fostered; and the mother and father shall be obliged to take care, raise, educate, feed, and provide for the integral development and protection of the rights of their children, especially when they are separated from them for any reason.
    2. Unseizable family assets are recognized in terms of amount and on the basis of the conditions and limitations provided for by law. The right to give in legacy and inherit is recognized.
    3. The State shall guarantee the equality of rights in decision making for the administration of the marital partnership and the joint ownership of assets.
    4. The State shall protect mothers, fathers and those who are the heads of family, in the exercise of their obligations and shall pay special attention to families who have broken up for whatever reason.
    5. The State shall promote the joint responsibility of both mother and father and shall monitor fulfillment of the mutual duties and rights between mothers, fathers, and children.
    6. Daughters and sons shall have the same rights, without any consideration given to kinship or adoption background.
    7. No declaration of the quality of the kinship shall be required at the time of registering the birth and no identity document shall refer to the type of kinship. (Art. 69)

    Para proteger los derechos de las personas integrantes de la familia:
    1. Se promoverá la maternidad y paternidad responsables; la madre y el padre estarán obligados al cuidado, crianza, educación, alimentación, desarrollo integral y protección de los derechos de sus hijas e hijos, en particular cuando se encuentren separados de ellos por cualquier motivo.
    2. Se reconoce el patrimonio familiar inembargable en la cuantía y con las condiciones y limitaciones que establezca la ley. Se garantizará el derecho de testar y de heredar.
    3. El Estado garantizará la igualdad de derechos en la toma de decisiones para la administración de la sociedad conyugal y de la sociedad de bienes.
    4. El Estado protegerá a las madres, a los padres y a quienes sean jefas y jefes de familia, en el ejercicio de sus obligaciones, y prestará especial atención a las familias disgregadas por cualquier causa.
    5. El Estado promoverá la corresponsabilidad materna y paterna y vigilará el cumplimiento de los deberes y derechos recíprocos entre madres, padres, hijas e hijos.
    6. Las hijas e hijos tendrán los mismos derechos sin considerar antecedentes de filiación o adopción.
    7. No se exigirá declaración sobre la calidad de la filiación en el momento de la inscripción del nacimiento, y ningún documento de identidad hará referencia a ella. (Art. 69)

    The dismissal of a working woman because of pregnancy and maternity, along with discrimination in connection with reproductive roles, is forbidden. (Art. 332)

    Unpaid work of self-sustenance and care-giving, carried out in the home, is recognized as productive work.
    The State shall strive towards a labor system that works in harmony with the needs for human care-giving, and that facilitates suitable services, infrastructure and work schedules; it shall, in particular, provide services for child care, care for persons with disabilities, and other services as needed for workers to be able to perform their labor activities; it shall furthermore foster the joint responsibility and reciprocity of men and women in domestic work and family obligations.
    Social service protection shall be progressively extended to persons who are responsible for unpaid family work at home, in accordance with the general conditions of the system and the law. (Art. 333)

    Se reconoce como labor productiva el trabajo no remunerado de autosustento y cuidado humano que se realza en los hogares.
    El Estado promoverá un régimen laboral que funcione en armonía con las necesidades del cuidado humano, que facilite servicios, infraestructura y horarios de trabajo adecuados; de manera especial, proveerá servicios de cuidado infantil, de atención a las personas con discapacidad y otros necesarios para que las personas trabajadoras puedan desempeñar sus actividades laborales; e impulsará la corresponsabilidad y reciprocidad de hombres y mujeres en el trabajo doméstico y en las obligaciones familiares.
    La protección de la seguridad social se extenderá de manera progresiva a las personas que tengan a su cargo el trabajo familiar no remunerado en el hogar, conforme a las condiciones generales del sistema y la ley. (Art. 333)
