Vice-President

Vice-President
  • English
    The Guatemalans of origin who are citizens in good standing and who are above forty years of age can opt for the office of President or Vice-President of the Republic. (Art. 185)

    Podrán optar a cargo de Presidente o Vicepresidente de la República, los guatemaltecos de origen que sean ciudadanos en ejercicio y mayores de cuarenta años. (Art. 185)
Vice-President
  • English
    The Vice-President of the Republic will exercise the functions of [the] President of the Republic in the cases and in the form established by the Constitution.
    He [or she] will be elected on the same ballot as the President of the Republic, in an identical form and for the same term.
    The Vice-President must meet the same qualifications as the President of the Republic, [he or she] will enjoy similar immunities, and will hold in the hierarchical order of the State, the level immediately below that functionary. (Art. 190)

    El Vicepresidente de la República ejercerá las funciones de Presidente de la República en los casos y forma que establece la Constitución.
    Será electo en la misma planilla con el Presidente de la República, en idéntica forma y para igual período.
    El Vicepresidente deberá reunir las mismas calidades que el Presidente de la República, gozará de iguales inmunidades y tiene en el orden jerárquico del Estado, el grado inmediato inferior al de dicho funcionario. (Art. 190)
