Status of the Constitution

Private persons are solely responsible to the authorities for violation of the Constitution or the Law. Public Officers are responsible, for the same reasons, and also for exceeding their authority, or for dereliction in the performance of their duties. (Art. 18)
- Spanish
Los particulares sólo son responsables ante las autoridades por infracción de la Constitución o de la Ley. Los servidores públicos lo son por esas mismas causas y también por extralimitación de funciones o por omisión en el ejercicio de éstas. (Art. 18)

The National Assembly is prohibited:
1. To issue laws which may be contrary-to-the letter or the spirit of this Constitution;

Status of the Constitution
- English
All laws and other legal provisions contrary to this Constitution are repealed, except those pertaining to parental authority and support, the contrary parts of which shall continue in force for a period not exceeding twelve months from the date this Constitution enters into effect. (Art. 326)
- Spanish
Quedan derogadas todas las Leyes y demás normas jurídicas que sean contrarias a esta Constitución, salvo las relativas a la patria potestad y alimentos, las cuales seguirán vigentes en las partes que sean contrarias a esta Constitución por un término no mayor de doce meses a partir de su vigencia. (Art. 326)
