Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan 2004
Status of the Constitution
- EnglishImplementing the provisions of this constitution and other laws, defending independence, national sovereignty, territorial integrity and attaining the security and defense capability of the country shall be the fundamental duties of the state. (Art. 5)
- Dariتطبیق احكام این قانون اساسی و سایر قوانین، دفاع از استقلال، حاكمیت ملی و تمامیت ارضی و تأمین امنیت و قابلیت دفاعی كشور از وظایف اساسی دولت می باشد. (مادۀ ۵)
- Pashtoد دې اساسي قانون او نورو قوانينو د حكمونو تطبيق، له استقلال، ملي واكمنۍ او ځمكنۍ بشپړتيا څخه دفاع او د هېواد د امنيت او دفاعي قابليت تأمين، د دولت له اساسي وظايفو څخه دي. (۵ ماده)
Status of the Constitution

Status of the Constitution
- English… Upon the enforcement of this Constitution, laws and legislative decrees contrary to its provisions shall be invalid. (Art. 162)
- Dari... با نفاذ این قانون اساسی، قوانین و فرامین تقنینی مغایر احكام آن ملغی می باشد. (مادۀ ۱۶۲)
- Pashto... په نافذېدو سره يې ددې اساسي قانون له حكمونو مغاير قوانين او تقنيني فرمانونه لغوه كېږى. (۱۶۲ماده)

Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan 2004 (English). According to Art. 16: “From amongst Pashto, Dari, Uzbeki, Turkmani, Baluchi, Pachaie, Nuristani, Pamiri, and other current languages in the country, Pashto and Dari shall be the official languages of the state. ...” This Constitution is currently suspended.
