    The State of Cyprus is an independent and sovereign Republic with a presidential regime, the President being Greek and the Vice President being Turk elected by the Greek and the Turkish Communities of Cyprus respectively as hereinafter in this Constitution provided. (Art. 1)

Vice-President

    A person shall be qualified to be a candidate for election as President or Vice-President of the Republic if at the time of election such person-
    a. is a citizen of the Republic;
    b. has attained the age of thirty-five years;
    c. has not been, on or after the date of the coming into operation of this constitution, convicted of an offence involving dishonesty or moral turpitude or is not under any disqualification imposed by a competent court for any electoral offence;
    d. is not suffering from a mental disease incapacitating such person from acting as President or Vice-President of the Republic. (Art. 40)

    Πας τις δικαιούται να θέση υποψηφιότητα προς εκλογήν αυτού ως Προέδρου ή ως Αντιπροέδρου της Δημοκρατίας, εφ’ όσον κατά τον χρόνον της εκλογής:
    (α) είναι πολίτης της Δημοκρατίας,
    (β) συνεπλήρωσε το τριακοστόν πέμπτον έτος της ηλικίας αυτού,
    (γ) δεν έχει καταδικασθή κατά την ημέραν της ενάρξεως ισχύος του Συντάγματος ή μετ’ αυτήν δι’ αδίκημα ατιμωτικόν ή ηθικής αισχρότητος ή δεν έχει στερηθή της εκλογιμότητος κατόπιν αποφάσεως αρμοδίου δικαστηρίου ένεκα οιουδήποτε εκλογικού αδικήματος, και τέλος
    (δ) δεν πάσχη εκ διανοητικής νόσου καθιστώσης τούτον ανίκανον να ασκήση τα καθήκοντα του Προέδρου ή του Αντιπροέδρου της Δημοκρατίας. (Αρθρον 40)
  • Turkish
    Bir kişi, seçim anında bu kişi-
    ise, Cumhurbaşkanı veya Cumhurbaşkanı Yardımcısı olarak seçilmeye aday olacak niteliklere sahip olacaktır.Cumhuriyet vatandaşıdır;
    b.otuz beş yaşını doldurmuş;
    c.bu anayasanın yürürlüğe girdiği tarihte veya sonrasında, sahtekarlık veya ahlaki kargaşa içeren bir suçtan hüküm giymemiş veya yetkili bir mahkeme tarafından herhangi bir seçim suçu nedeniyle dayatılan herhangi bir diskalifiye kapsamında değildir;
    d. bu kişiyi Cumhurbaşkanı veya Başkan Yardımcısı olarak hareket etmekten aciz bırakan bir akıl hastalığından muzdarip değildir. (Madde 40)
