Religious Law

The Union recognizes special position of Buddhism as the faith professed by the great majority of the citizens of the Union. (Sec. 361)

The Union also recognizes Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Animism as the religions existing in the Union at the day of the coming into operation of this Constitution. (Sec. 362)

Every citizen shall be at liberty in the exercise of the following rights, if not contrary to the laws, enacted for Union security, prevalence of law and order, community peace and tranquility or public order and morality:

(d) to develop their language, literature, culture they cherish, religion they profess, and customs without prejudice to the relations between one national race and another or among national races and to other faiths. (Sec. 354) - Burmese
နိုင်ငံသားတိုင်းသည် နိုင်ငံတော်လုံးခြုံရေး၊ တရားဥပဒေစိုးမိုးရေး၊ ရပ်ရွာအေးချမ်းသာယာရေး သို့မဟုတ် ပြည်သူတို့၏ ကိုယ်ကျင့်တရားအကျိုးငှာ ပြဌာန်းထားသည့် ဥပဒေများနှင့် မဆန့်ကျင်လျှင် အောက်ပါအခွင့်အရေးများကို လွတ်လပ်စွာ သုံးစွဲဆောင်ရွက်ခွင့်ရှိသည် -

Customary Law

Every citizen shall, in accord with the law, have the right to freely develop literature, culture, arts, customs and traditions they cherish. In the process, they shall avoid any act detrimental to national solidarity. Moreover, any particular action which might adversely affect the interests of one or several other national races shall be taken only after coordinating with and obtaining the settlement of those affected. (Sec. 365)

နိုင်ငံသားတိုင်းသည် ဥပဒေနှင့်အညီ မိမိတို့အမြတ်တနိုးထားရှိသော စာပေ၊ ယဉ်ကျေးမှု၊ အနုပညာနှင့် ဓလေ့ထုံးတမ်းတို့ကို လွတ်လပ်စွာ ပြုစုပျိူးထောင်ဆောင်ရွက်ပိုင်ခွင့်ရှိသည်။ ယင်းသို့ဆောင်ရွက်ရာတွင် တိုင်းရင်းသားစည်းလုံးညီညွတ်ရေးကို ထိပါးမှုမရှိစေရန် ရှောင်ကြဉ်ရမည်။ ထို့ပြင်မိမိတို့၏ ဆောင်ရွက်မှုသည် အခြားတိုင်းရင်းသားလူမျိုး တစ်မျိုးကိုဖြစ်စေ၊ လူမျိုးများကိုဖြစ်စေ ထိခိုက်နစ်နာစေနိုင်လျှင် သက်ဆိုင်သူများအချင်းချင်းညှိနှိုင်း၍ ပြေလည်မှုရရှိပြီးမှသာ ဆောင်ရွက်ခွင့် ရှိသည်။ (ပုဒ်မ-၃၆၅)

According to Sec. 377 of Chapter VIII- Citizen, Fundamental Rights and Duties of the Citizens: “In order to obtain a right given by this Chapter, application shall be made in accord with the stipulations, to the Supreme Court of the Union.”
