(1) Every person shall have the right to education. School attendance is compulsory. Length of attendance shall be fixed by law.
(2) Citizens shall have the right to free education in elementary and secondary schools, and, depending on the abilities of the individual and the potential of the society, also in institutions of higher education.
(3) The establishment of, and instruction in, schools other than state (public) schools shall be possible only under the terms provided by law; such schools may collect tuition fees.
(4) Eligibility for financial assistance for students from public funds shall be provided by law. (Art. 42) - Slovak
(1) Kaţdý má právo na vzdelanie. Školská dochádzka je povinná. Jej dĺţku po vekovú hranicu ustanoví zákon.
(2) Občania majú právo na bezplatné vzdelanie v základných školách a stredných školách, podľa schopností občana a moţnosti spoločnosti aj na vysokých školách.
(3) Zriaďovať iné školy ako štátne a vyučovať v nich moţno len za podmienok ustanovených zákonom; v takýchto školách sa môţe vzdelávanie poskytovať za úhradu.

- EnglishAll persons have the right to an integral education that is of quality, permanent, equal in conditions and opportunities, and without more limitations than those derived from their aptitudes, vocation, and aspirations. Consequently:
1. The goal of education is the integral formation of the human being for the length of his entire life, and should be oriented toward the development of his creative potential and his ethical values. It seeks access to knowledge, science, skill, and the other assets and values of culture.
2. The family is responsible for the education of its members and has the right to choose the type of education for its minor children.
3. The State guarantees free public education and declares it obligatory in initial, basic, and intermediate levels. The offer for the initial level shall be defined in the law. Superior education in the public system shall be financed by the State, guaranteeing a distribution of resources that is proportional to the educational offer of the regions, in accordance with that which the law establishes.
4. The State shall safeguard the free nature and quality of general education, the fulfillment of its goals and moral, intellectual, and physical formation of the educated. It has the obligation to offer the number of hours of instruction that assure the achievement of the educational goals.

6. The eradication of illiteracy and the education of people with special needs and with exceptional abilities are obligations of the State.

With the end of forming citizens who are conscious of their rights and duties, in all public and private educational institutions instruction in social and civic formation, teaching of the Constitution, fundamental rights and guarantees, national values and the principles of peaceful coexistence shall be obligatory. - English(1) It shall be unlawful for an educational establishment, or the authority responsible for the control of an educational establishment, or any person concerned in the management of an educational establishment or in teaching at an educational establishment,—
(a) to refuse or fail to admit a person as a pupil or student; or
(b) to admit a person as a pupil or a student on less favourable terms and conditions than would otherwise be made available; or
(c) to deny or restrict access to any benefits or services provided by the establishment; or
(d) to exclude a person as a pupil or a student or subject him or her to any other detriment,— by reason of any of the prohibited grounds of discrimination.
(2) In this section, educational establishment includes an establishment offering any form of training or instruction and an educational establishment under the control of an organisation or association referred to in section 40. (Human Rights Act 1993, Sec. 57)
