Parents have the right and duty to provide for the nurturing and education of their children. Children are responsible for the care of their old and infirm parents. The Republic provides particular protection for parentless children and children without parental care. (Art. 40)

Family relations rest on the respect for, solidarity with and [the] absolute equality of rights and responsibilities between the man and the woman.
Parents must attend to the maintaining of the home and the integral development of their children through common effort, with equal rights and responsibilities.
