- English1 There shall be a President of Ireland (Uachtarán na hÉireann), hereinafter called the President, who shall take precedence over all other persons in the State and who shall exercise and perform the powers and functions conferred on the President by this Constitution and by law.
2 1° The President shall be elected by direct vote of the people.
2° Every citizen who has the right to vote at an election for members of Dáil Éireann shall have the right to vote at an election for President.
3° The voting shall be by secret ballot and on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote.

4 1° Every citizen who has reached his thirty-fifth year of age is eligible for election to the office of President.
2° Every candidate for election, not a former or retiring President, must be nominated either by
i not less than twenty persons, each of whom is at the time a member of one of the Houses of the Oireachtas, or
ii by the Councils of not less than four administrative Counties (including County Boroughs) as defined by law.

- EnglishNo one may be a candidate for election as President of the Republic, if they do not meet the following conditions:
1. to possess Congolese nationality of origin;
2. to be at least 30 years of age;
3. to enjoy full civil and political rights;
4. to not be subject to one of the cases of exclusion established by the electoral law. (Art. 72) - FrenchNul ne peut être candidat à l’élection du Président de la République s’il ne remplit les conditions ci-après:

- EnglishThe President of the Republic shall be an Ecuadorian national by birth, at least thirty-five (35) years of age when registering his/her candidacy, in possession of his/her political rights, and not subject to any of the disqualifications or prohibitions provided for by the Constitution. No one may be a candidate to the function of the President of the Republic or Vice President of the Republic if:
- [they are] not of Beninese nationality by birth or have acquired [it for] at least ten years;
- [they are] not of good morals and of grand probity;
- [they] do not enjoy all their civil and political rights;
- [they] are not at least already 40 years old and at most already 70 years old at the date of entering into [their] function;
- [they were] elected two (02) times President of the Republic and exercised two mandates as such;
- [they were] not present in the Republic of Benin at the time of the deposit of their candidature;
- [they] do not enjoy a complete state of physical and mental well-being duly stated by a board [college] of three (03) doctors designated under oath by the Constitutional Court.
- [they] are not duly sponsored [parraint/supported] by [persons] elected within the conditions and following the modalities established by the law. (Art. 44) - French
Nul ne peut être candidat aux fonctions de Président de la République ou de vice-président de la République s'il :
- n'est de nationalité béninoise de naissance ou acquise depuis au moins dix ans ;
- n'est de bonne moralité et d'une grande probité;
- ne jouit de tous ses droits civils et politiques ;
- n'est âgé d’au moins 40 ans révolus et au plus 70 ans révolus à la date d’entrée en fonction ;
- a été élu deux (02) fois Président de la République et a exercé comme tel deux mandats ;
- n'est présent en République du Bénin lors du dépôt de sa candidature ;
- ne jouit d'un état complet de bien-être physique et mental dûment constaté par un collège de trois médecins assermentés désignés par la Cour constitutionnelle.
- n'est dûment parrainé par des élus dans les conditions et suivant les modalités fixées par la loi. (Art. 44)
