a. monitor the state of human rights throughout Lesotho;
b. monitor the human rights situation of detainees;
c. investigate violations of human rights and, if necessary, be responsible for instituting proceedings against such violation in the courts of law;
d. sensitise the public on its work, the nature and meaning of human rights;
e. develop and deliver education and training programmes as necessary to the general public;
f. submit opinions, recommendations, propositions and reports to public institutions on human rights issues, using the media and other means;
g. advocate for ratification, and recommend the domestication of international and regional human rights instruments;
h. promote and monitor the harmonisation of national laws and practices with international and regional human rights instruments ratified by Lesotho;
i. develop and maintain working relations with organisations and representatives of civil society in Lesotho;
j. work in cooperation with the United Nations, regional mechanisms, national human rights institutions of other countries, in the areas of the promotion and protection of human rights, and
k. undertake any other activities or responsibilities that are consistent with the spirit of the promotion and protection of human rights. (Sec. 133F)

- English1. The functions of the Commission shall be to:
a. monitor the application and enforcement of the rights and freedoms enshrined in this Constitution;
b. investigate, on its own initiative, or on a complaint made by any person or group of persons, against any violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms;
c. visit police jails, prisons and related facilities with a view to assessing and inspecting conditions of the inmates and make recommendations to the relevant authority;
d. establish a continuing programme of research, education and information to enhance respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;
e. recommend to the National Legislative Assembly effective measures to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms;
f. create and sustain within society awareness of the provisions of this Constitution as the fundamental law of the people of South Sudan;
g. educate and encourage the public to defend their human rights and fundamental freedoms against all forms of abuse and violation;
h. formulate, implement and oversee programmes intended to inculcate in the citizens awareness of their civic responsibilities and understanding of their rights and obligations as citizens;
i. monitor compliance of all levels of government with international and regional human rights treaties and conventions ratified by the Republic of South Sudan;
j. express opinion or present advice to government organs on any issue related to human rights and fundamental freedoms; and
k. perform such other function as may be prescribed by law.

(1) It shall be the duty of the National Human Rights Commission to respect, protect and promote human rights and ensure effective enforcement thereof.
(2) For the accomplishment of the duty referred to in clause (1), the National Human Rights Commission shall perform the following functions:
(a) To inquire, on its own initiative or on petition or complaint presented in or sent to the Commission by a victim or any person on his or her behalf or on information received by the Commission from any source, into and investigate complaints of violations of human rights of an individual or group or abetment thereof, and make recommendation for action against the perpetrators;
(b) In case any official who has the responsibility or duty to prevent violations of human rights fails to fulfil or perform his or her responsibility or duty or shows reluctance in the fulfilment or performance of his or her responsibility or duty, to make recommendation to the concerned authority to take departmental action against such official;
(c) In case it is required to institute a case against any person or organization who has violated human rights, to make recommendation to file a case in the court in accordance with law;
(d) To coordinate and collaborate with civil society in order to enhance awareness on human rights;
(e) To make recommendation, accompanied by the reasons and grounds, to the concerned body for taking departmental action against and imposing punishment on those who are violators of human rights;
(f) To carry out periodic reviews of the relevant laws relating to human rights and make recommendation to the Government of Nepal for necessary improvements in and amendments to such laws;
(g) In case Nepal has to become a party to any international treaty or agreement on human rights, to make recommendation, accompanied by the reasons therefor, to the Government of Nepal; and monitor whether any such treaty or an agreement to which Nepal is already a party has been implemented, and in case it is found not to have been implemented, to make recommendation to the Government of Nepal for its implementation;
(h) To publish, in accordance with law, the names of the officials, persons or bodies who have failed to observe or implement any recommendations or directives made or given by the National Human Rights Commission in relation to the violations of human rights, and record them as violators of human rights.

(१) मानव अधिकारको सम्मान, संरक्षण र संवर्धन तथा त्यसको प्रभावकारी कार्यान्वयनलाई सुनिश्चित गर्नु राष्ट्रिय मानव अधिकार आयोगको कर्तव्य हुनेछ ।
(२) उपधारा (१) मा उल्लिखित कर्तव्य पूरा गर्नका लागि राष्ट्रिय मानव अधिकार आयोगले देहाय बमोजिमका काम गर्नेछ ः–
(क) कुनै व्यक्ति वा समूहको मानव अधिकार उल्लंघन वा त्यसको दुरुत्साहन भएकोमा पीडित आफैं वा निजको तर्पmबाट कसैले आयोग समक्ष प्रस्तुत वा प्रेषित गरेको निवेदन वा उजूरी वा कुनै स्रोतबाट आयोगलाई प्राप्त भएको वा आयोगको जानकारीमा आएको विषयमा छानबिन तथा अनुसन्धान गरी दोषी उपर कारबाही गर्न सिफारिस गर्ने,
(ख) मानव अधिकारको उल्लंघन हुनबाट रोक्ने जिम्मेवारी वा कर्तव्य भएको पदाधिकारीले आफ्नो जिम्मेवारी पूरा नगरेमा वा कर्तव्य पालन नगरेमा वा जिम्मेवारी पूरा गर्न वा कर्तव्यपालन गर्न उदासीनता देखाएमा त्यस्तो पदाधिकारी उपर विभागीय कारबाही गर्न सम्बन्धित अधिकारी समक्ष सिफारिस गर्ने,
(ग) मानव अधिकार उल्लंघन गर्ने व्यक्ति वा संस्थाका विरुद्ध मुद्दा चलाउनु पर्ने आवश्यकता भएमा कानून बमोजिम अदालतमा मुद्दा दायर गर्न सिफारिस गर्ने,
(घ) मानव अधिकारको चेतना अभिवृद्धि गर्न नागरिक समाजसँग समन्वय र सहकार्य गर्ने,
(ङ) मानव अधिकारको उल्लंघनकर्तालाई विभागीय कारबाही तथा सजाय गर्न कारण र आधार खुलाई सम्बन्धित निकाय समक्ष सिफारिस गर्ने,
(च) मानव अधिकारसँग सम्बन्धित कानूनको आवधिक रूपमा पुनरावलोकन गर्ने तथा त्यसमा गर्नु पर्ने सुधार तथा संशोधनका सम्बन्धमा नेपाल सरकार समक्ष सिफारिस गर्ने,
(छ) मानव अधिकारसँग सम्बन्धित अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सन्धि वा सम्झौताको नेपाल पक्ष बन्नु पर्ने भएमा त्यसको कारण सहित नेपाल सरकारलाई सिफारिस गर्ने र नेपाल पक्ष बनिसकेका सन्धि वा सम्झौताको कार्यान्वयन भए वा नभएको अनुगमनगरी कार्यान्वयन नभएको पाइएमा त्यसको कार्यान्वयन गर्न नेपाल सरकार समक्ष सिफारिस गर्ने,
(ज) मानव अधिकारको उल्लंघनका सम्बन्धमा राष्ट्रिय मानव अधिकार आयोगले गरेको सिफारिस वा निर्देशन पालन वा कार्यान्वयन नगर्ने पदाधिकारी, व्यक्ति वा निकायको नाम कानून बमोजिम सार्वजनिक गरी मानव अधिकार उल्लंघनकर्ताको रूपमा अभिलेख राख्ने ।

- EnglishThe Ombudsman shall be a commissioner of the Croatian Parliament responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution, laws and international legal instruments on human rights and freedoms ratified by the Republic of Croatia.
Everyone may lodge a complaint to the Ombudsman if he/she deems that his/her constitutional or legal rights have been threatened or violated as a result of any illegal or irregular act by state bodies, local and regional self-government bodies and bodies vested with public authority.
The Croatian Parliament shall elect the Ombudsman for a term of eight years. The Ombudsman shall be autonomous and independent in his/her work.
Conditions for the election and dismissal of the Ombudsman and his/her deputies, his/her remit, and the method of his/her work shall be regulated by law. By law, the Ombudsman may also be vested with certain powers with regard to legal and natural persons in order to protect fundamental constitutional rights.
The Ombudsman and other commissioners of the Croatian Parliament responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms shall enjoy the same immunity as Members of the Croatian Parliament. (Art. 93) - CroatianPučki je pravobranitelj opunomoćenik Hrvatskoga sabora za promicanje i zaštitu ljudskih prava i sloboda utvrđenih Ustavom, zakonima i međunarodnim pravnim aktima o ljudskim pravima i slobodama koje je prihvatila Republika Hrvatska.
Svatko može podnijeti pritužbu pučkom pravobranitelju ako smatra da su, uslijed nezakonitog ili nepravilnog rada državnih tijela, tijela lokalne i područne (regionalne) samouprave i tijela s javnim ovlastima, ugrožena ili povrijeđena njegova ustavna ili zakonska prava.
Pučkog pravobranitelja bira Hrvatski sabor na vrijeme od osam godina. Pučki pravobranitelj samostalan je i neovisan u svom radu.
Uvjeti za izbor i razrješenje pučkog pravobranitelja i njegovih zamjenika, djelokrug i način rada uređuju se zakonom. Zakonom se, radi zaštite temeljnih ustavnih prava, pučkom pravobranitelju mogu povjeriti i određene ovlasti u odnosu na pravne i fizičke osobe.
Pučki pravobranitelj i ostali opunomoćenici Hrvatskoga sabora za promicanje i zaštitu ljudskih prava i temeljnih sloboda imaju imunitet kao i zastupnici u Hrvatskom saboru. (Članak 93)

- English(1) Subject to paragraphs (3) and (6), every person, as contemplated by the respective international treaties set out in the Fourth Schedule to which Guyana has acceded is entitled to the human rights enshrined in the said international treaties, and such rights shall be respected and upheld by the executive, legislature judiciary and all organs and agencies of Government and, where applicable to them, by all natural and legal persons and shall be enforceable in the manner hereinafter prescribed.

(4) If any person alleges that any of the rights referred to in paragraph (1), has been, is being or is about to be contravened in relation to him or her, then, without prejudice to any other action with respect to the same matter which is lawfully available, that person may apply to the Human Rights Commission in such manner as the Commission may prescribe, for redress.

(1) The Public Protector of Rights is an independent body of the Slovak Republic which, within the scope and as laid down by law, protects basic rights and freedoms of natural and legal persons in proceedings before public administration bodies and other bodies of public authority, if their conduct, decision-making, or inaction, is in conflict with the legal order. In cases laid down by law, the Public Protector of Rights may participate in holding the persons working in the public administration bodies accountable, if those persons violated a basic human right or freedom of natural or legal persons. All bodies of public authority shall give the Public Protector of Rights necessary assistance.
(2) The Public Protector of Rights may file a motion with the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic to initiate a proceeding pursuant to Article 125, if a generally binding regulation is violating a basic human right or freedom granted to a natural or legal person.
(3) The Public Defender of Rights shall be elected by the National Council of the Slovak Republic from among candidates proposed by at least 15 Members of Parliament for a term of five years. As Public Defender of Rights may be elected any citizen of the Slovak Republic, who is eligible for election as a Member of Parliament and has attained the age of 35 by the date of election. A Public Defender of Rights cannot be a member of a political party or a political movement. The Public Defender of Rights shall remain in office after the expiry of the term of office until the new Public Defender of Rights is sworn in.

(1) Verejný ochranca práv je nezávislý orgán Slovenskej republiky, ktorý v rozsahu a spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom chráni základné práva a slobody fyzických osôb a právnických osôb v konaní pred orgánmi verejnej správy a ďalšími orgánmi verejnej moci, ak je ich konanie, rozhodovanie alebo nečinnosť v rozpore s právnym poriadkom. V zákonom ustanovených prípadoch sa verejný ochranca práv môţe podieľať na uplatnení zodpovednosti osôb pôsobiacich v orgánoch verejnej moci, ak tieto osoby porušili základné právo alebo slobodu fyzických osôb a právnických osôb. Všetky orgány verejnej moci poskytnú verejnému ochrancovi práv potrebnú súčinnosť.
(2) Verejný ochranca práv môţe predloţiť Ústavnému súdu Slovenskej republiky návrh na začatie konania podľa čl. 125, ak všeobecne záväzný právny predpis porušuje základné právo alebo slobodu priznanú fyzickej osobe alebo právnickej osobe.
(3) Verejného ochrancu práv volí Národná rada Slovenskej republiky na obdobie piatich rokov z kandidátov, ktorých jej navrhne najmenej 15 poslancov Národnej rady Slovenskej republiky. Za verejného ochrancu práv možno zvoliť občana Slovenskej republiky, ktorý je voliteľný za poslanca Národnej rady Slovenskej republiky a v deň voľby dosiahol vek 35 rokov. Verejný ochranca práv nemôže byť členom politickej strany ani politického hnutia. Verejný ochranca práv ostáva vo funkcii aj po uplynutí funkčného obdobia do zloženia sľubu novým verejným ochrancom práv.
